the 90s were such a quaint time that you could become literally the most famous comedic actor on earth by over-annunciating "Somebody stop me!!"

But is the opposite a sign of chickenshit disloyalty and innate weakness? Possibly true if sports fandom is just a product of tribal/community impulses.

That is to say they’re just brands. The roster is always changing throughout time. So it becomes about the brand. Who gives a shit to the point of getting animated or having a physical response?
wolfbridge.bsky.social
Did anyone have a relative obsessed with a football team? Are YOU obsessed with a football team? Why? I’ve never understood getting animated over it. It’s basically like rooting for Coke to sell more soda than Pepsi.

It turns out the people most into that shit back in the day had been fantasizing about being the ones flying them the whole time, perhaps predictably to some

New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

People will scoff at virtue signaling and then wonder why today’s billionaires don’t build museums, libraries, hospitals, and universities like Gilded Age ones did.

At least we no longer have to hear about freedom being in Americans' DNA or whatever. Turns out we love to eat shit and bow to some bloated halfwit like any other people throughout history

“Christians United for Israel, the evangelical Zionist group founded by Texas pastor John Hagee, claims 10 million members, more than the entire population of 7.5 million Jews in the United States.”

I wish more people knew this.

"Trans issues aren't this shameful thing that Democratic consultants suggest we hide from, it's the same fight undocumented immigrants are fighting, or those who can't access health care are fighting...Political issues aren't siloes, they're all connected, and Mamdani recognizes that." ✊

I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

I need to know if I’ve stumbled into genuine wisdom or “no shit” knowledge wrapped in the cloak of wisdom

I’m mostly thinking of how this relates to youth sports vis a vis the concept of the coach saying “just walk it off” as either a product of masculine pressures or the hope that the kid isn’t injured which could lead to a lawsuit. Any thoughts on this?

Imagine inventing basket ball and wanting it as two separate words because it makes more sense then the English language is like “yeah we’re not putting a space between that shit.”
wolfbridge.bsky.social
Kind of INSANE that we let kids do this imho. I’m all for letting them try and fail and do sports obviously but football carries well documented cognitive risks in ways other sports don’t. Fuck man just have your kids play basketball or something lol.
wolfbridge.bsky.social
Thinking about youth football is kind of crazy. Imagine taking 11 eight year olds and saying “ok you are now responsible for one another’s safety while you and this other group of kids try to hurt each other. Good luck!”

The concept of legal liability is way older than any supposedly “core tenets” of masculinity as espoused by the right. I don’t think this is a particularly erudite take but I find it interesting.
