A soup of beauty! Beautiful soup!

The unexpected resurgence of Ea-Nasir is one of the few bright spots in this god-awful year.

At this point, I assume anyone who doesn’t say they’re a mess is just lying to themselves and everyone else.

And frankly, you bring joy and sincerity to the world, and that’s a hell of a lot more valuable than tidiness.

There’s something awe-inspiring in a storm rolling in over the mountains.
Storm clouds hanging low over Mt. Timpanogos on the Wasatch Front of the Rocky Mountains.

My baby is 21, so I regret to say probably not.

Watching the Bruins and Sabres game tonight, and I am sad to report that the phrase “lipstick on a pig” comes to mind. Sabres had one shot on goal in the first 20 minutes of play. They have not scored yet this season.

I am legit reflexively flinching as I read these because I have unfond memories of head-banging toddlers.

Oh, definitely. Premee’s an excellent writer!

I’ve been recommending Cal Newport’s book Slow Productivity to all my creative friends. He talks about how self-defeating it can be to try to create on someone else’s timeline.

Seconding Arula on this. Though wouldn’t it be great if we could just write the best things we know how and still be able to eat and stuff?

We’re going to need a new amendment just to clarify our amphibian stance.

Is that what the kids are calling “suspicious as fuck” these days?
writerjencrow.bsky.social
I regularly refer to my husband, my children, and various inanimate objects as “dude.” I was only in California for 5 or 6 years, but it ruined me.

More like definitely, with deeper reflection. Can I show you my cool rock collection?

Also me: Is it possible that I am slightly neurosparkly?

Part of me is still five years old, because I have a New Favorite Shirt and I’m very sad that it needs to go through the laundry before I get to wear it again.

Your cat supervisor is telling you that you need a little rest. If you’re lucky enough to have adequate cat supervision, you should listen.

there’s this weird idea a lot of people seem to have about how all of us writers and artists must secretly want to use AI and are merely resisting temptation for ethical reasons, and like, no, it’s not hard for me to resist drinking the bowl of Piss With Glass In It actually

She’s delightful! Such a fun evening.

Cal Newport’s book Slow Productivity talked about how important it can be to let creative projects take the time they need to develop (a lesson I’ve long been struggling with).

I wonder how many of us writers tend to think of inspiration as a force or being from outside us, like Kipling’s daemon?

Excellent event at @eveninghouse.bsky.social with @leannareneehieber.bsky.social! I’m excited to read America’s Most Gothic, and I’ll definitely head back to downtown Buffalo when I need a new read.
