but in audio form, it's crafting 3 paragraphs of stuff to say, and starts saying it, and about 2 sentences in, I'm like, no dude, not that at all. A *person* would see the look on my face, and be like, "or did you mean something else?", and I'll be "yeah more like ___", "oh why?".

It's probably part: I'm rude+impatient, and part: I hate audio/video content even by humans: I scan and jump around.

ChatGPT is fine: it spews 5 pages of crap, and I speedread / find a point where it is no longer helpful, ignore the rest, and respond to a point 10% of the way through.

it drives me absolutely *bonkers*. Nothing to do with the intelligence or voice or ability to understand what I'm saying, it's *all* in the responsiveness and speed at picking up that it needs to STFU and stop yammering on and on and on.

Voice mode AI is still totally unusable these days. Super annoying uncanny valley with current latencies and pause detection / interruption detection.

I got why you responded that way to that other thread, I did. I might’ve done the same, because being derailed is uncalled for.

But this… just seems to be announcing to the world, “I am determined to intentionally not have patience for those who I disagree with and interrupt me”.

Ah yep that's what happens to cyclists too!

(but coming at it from the ultra-runner direction, finding ways of not being too bulky, being more minimalist, and willing to put up with some suffering when it comes to "comfort", is the angle I've been aiming towards. But yes: more a "sport" than hobby)

why tepid? Just because "penny foolish + pound foolish" (like how cyclists drill out little bits of aluminum in their gear to shave an ounce here or there)? Or the trend in general?

I ask because the idea of smoothly transitioning between 18-24hr ultra running and through-hiking is intriguing to me

Moderation on social media sites is hard, but yeah, seems like the messed up with that at first (but fixed it).

I'm not sure "regime-sucker" is what I've seen, but every corp in the US now is treading relatively lightly.

Arguing "appropriate use" of energy just leads to fun debates on "which is worse: Christmas light displays, ChatGPT, Netflix watching, or air conditioners?", when we should be focused on tons-of-carbon / GWh, and once the primary negative externality is handled, letting market forces decide "values"

but it looks like it's $100k at first, and 1-year renewals as well, so it's $100k / yr. That's a new 20-30% payroll tax. Even megacorps ain't gonna pay that.

Of course, this is a negotiating tactic, to get tech companies to suck up, India to suck up, offer him stuff (and instill fear).
