First race is in the books, and here are the first race pace calculations of the 2025 F1 season.

On the left, you can see the data calculated just for the two green-flag stints on intermediates. The table on the right includes the short middle stint on slicks.

Lots of things to take away...

... that said, it might be time to see if the pup is awake and wanting to go for our morning promenade.

Six things knocked off my to-do list, nine more to go today...

My slides are revised for 2 of my 3 classes this week. I got feedback to a student on their writing draft. I sorted out a discussion board. I finalized an exam that students will take on Friday in the testing center.

It's amazing what you can get done in 3 hours when you're the only one awake...

As much as the fan in me hated watching Oregon lose yesterday, the nerd in me is just as stoked that Peter Wolfe releases his first rankings today...

... then the only piece missing from calculating the BCS rankings is the Anderson & Hester ranking — which wasn't released until Nov. 20 last year.

Yesterday I was told that the class I’m scheduled to teach this month, Confronting Oppression & Injustice, is no longer part of our curriculum. This is a required class yet there was no discussion, no faculty vote, just an email saying the class no longer exists. This is what it’s like in Texas now.

It clicked after I made my Lanning comment. Students are going to be pissed on campus on Monday.

I'm guessing he was referring to my workplace and the institution that bestowed my PhD.

I don't think Dan Lanning is the problem...

Stop trying to shoehorn "AI" into every piece of tech. I don't need it and I sure as fuck don't want it.

No, Apple, I DON'T want the AI features that you've mashed into your latest OS update...

That goes for you too, Samsung.

I'm so sick of their shitty broken gadgets fucking with my machinery.

So ... Catholic *traditionalists* want a pope who doesn't involve himself in global politics?

We get to talk about Jack Johnson in class today as we wind up this week's material on the Progressive Era.

This 441 class has been an ass-kicker as a new prep this semester, but it's also been incredibly fun to teach...

So they’re keeping the House in recess for another week (see his follow up)?

To delay the Epstein Files and, I guess, avoid the No Kings rally on 10/18?

They are in full blown pants pissing panic

More nonsensical anti-cycling rhetoric from The Irish Times.

This nonsense tries to pit people cycling up against people trying to buy a home.

This kind of framing is nothing more than a distraction tactic, pitting ordinary people against each other instead of addressing the real issues.

Unless you think that processing and cooling demands on the power grid will one day decrease despite the attempts to increase computing power and capacity, I just cannot see any of those limited ways.

Fucking yikes. If sports betting has rotted your brain to this extent, you need to call a gambling hotline.

Whatever excess power generation might currently be happening is magnitudes below what these data centers need to power the processing units necessary to run these Mechanical Turks.

That's why they're trying to revive shuttered power plants and build new ones for this crap.

RFK Jr admitted there’s no proof Tylenol causes autism.

He said “we’re making the proof”.

This is the man directing public health policy for the country.

If you have to “make the proof” you haven’t solved the problem.

He’s a eugenicist grifter.
