Last month, 1047 Games announced that Splitgate 2 was going “back to beta” in response to community concerns over the condition of the game. Alongside that news, plans were laid to shut down the original Splitgate entirely but yesterday the studio announced that it will now be transitioning the game

If Splitgate 2 wasn’t dead before, keeping Splitgate 1 alive in the form of P2P hosting will almost certainly kill the game and make the relaunch incredibly moot.

UE5 is a waist of time, 1047 could very well just keep updating Splitgate instead of trying to make Slopgate 2. The only reason people even care about 2 is because of the Controversy and the pandering toward a general audience.

Actually funnily enough there is exactly one Unreal Engine 5 game I can think of that uses baked lighting flawlessly, and it is... drum roll... Splitgate 2. Somehow.

Splitgate 2 is insanely fun. Huge improvement over the first. It's also on Unreal Engine 5 and runs shockingly well - I almost always hit my 200 fps cap.
One feature I wanna shout out is the baked lighting. It feels like this is absent from most modern releases, so it's nice to see it used here.
