36. The secret to successfully working at home is to always, always wear pants. You will be tempted otherwise, but for your mental health, wear clean pants. Slacks or denim, any kind except for sweatpants. Those are for when you’re off the clock. johndevore.substack.com/p/advice-for...

Only 2 episodes in, but HBO Max’s “Eastern Gate” is pretty damn good. Comes off like a modern day Cold War spy show, but set in 2021 in Belarus, Russia and Poland. Just wow performances by its leads.

Of all the bizarre decisions... After years of development hell and Kickstarter drama, SpaceVenture, the new point-and-click adventure by the original Space Quest guys, leaves early access.

On Christmas goddamn eve (GMT-wise).

In the middle of a Steam sale.

With no discount.

Hilariously, we have created a commerce model where it’s increasingly impossible to buy something locally today, but you can have nearly anything on earth delivered tomorrow.

Here’s a cool story that connects this article with a piece I wrote for Pittsburgh Magazine 5 years ago about one of Pittsburgh’s coolest pieces of analog history: the Telephone Jukebox service that ran for over a half century.
I wrote a new piece for @pghcitypaper.com about loving analog media in a digital world. If you’re someone who’s into vinyl, film photography, print media, and invaluable local businesses, you should check it out! I also coin the phrase “techno-bummerism” lol
In a digital world, Pittsburgh is an analog paradise
At places like Galaxie Electronics and Bernie's Photo Center, young people are relearning the joys of vinyl, film, and slowing down.

@kevinrose.com talk to @pfrazee.com about making the new Digg an open network on AT protocol!

So it can be meaningfully differentiated from Reddit, actually good for people, and long-lasting.

Not proved yet but reason to believe open social apps can make real money too: bsky.app/profile/jaco...
Someone should be trying to convince Kevin Rose and the people building the new version of Digg to build on AT protocol.

Reddit needs to be replaced and nothing would improve the new Digg’s chances like being an open alternative.

They’ll have serious funding so will have the best shot by default.
