Hey everyone,

I figured it's time I introduce myself! My name is Aaron. I work as a paramedic and nurse, but I spend much of my spare time as a photographer with a focus on wildlife, macro, and astrophotography.

Feel free to introduce yourself, and follow along if you enjoy photography!

It's been a hectic but positive start to Fall here without much time for photography, but here are a few images from the past month.

We purchased our first home and moved communities, I took and thankfully passed the NCLEX RN exam, and we are now settling into our new life in the Comox Valley.

It's been a busy start to fall and my photography has had to take a backseat to more important things lately. Lots of exciting things to share soon!

In the meantime, here's a recent (ish) photo that I'm quite fond of.

Some late summer macrophotography.

This red-backed jumping spider was found hiding in the leaves of a blueberry bush and showed a great deal of curiosity towards the camera, often cocking its head in a curious manner as I took photos.

One of my new favourite photos: the Andromeda Galaxy (M31).

A total of 49 minutes of combined exposure time and a further 2.5 hours of processing to pull out the details. See www.aaronpengellyphotography.com/blog/ for more astrophotography!

Check out this photographers incredible work. A stunning image of the Dumbbell Nebula.

HDR Moon.

My daughter loved her first astronomy experience so much that we decided to do another on Quadra Island, complete with her own travel telescope!

My journey with photography began about 11 years ago when I bought my first telescope.

I’ve recently got a small Astro rig after 4 years away and these first test images were taken to test the tracking accuracy of the mount with various lenses.

I was out looking for owls the other day, and while I didn’t find the pair I was looking for I was lucky enough to find this family of pileated woodpeckers feeding in a large tree.

Some recent macro images.

Today's images include a damselfly resting in the garden and following a colony of ants as they farm aphids for honeydew in a cherry tree.

That’s a wrap on a life changing 4 years. I’m so grateful for the friends made, lessons learned, and opportunities I’ve been given.

I’m even more grateful to the people who stood by me and supported me through the highs and lows. My family, my friends - thank you.
