Today was my first day teaching Folklore Studies and Folklore Theory in the 2025 International Summer School at Xi'an International Studies University. I have a wonderful group of students, who are doing a great job of wading through tough ideas in a non-native language!

After my talk at #SIEF2025 in Aberdeen, I had a chance to visit to the Highland Folk Museum. Founded in 1935 and modeled on the Scandinavian open air folk museum concept, it presents buildings from different periods, including this stone thatched roof cottage, interpreted from the late 1800s.
