👋Hello, to my new followers!
So glad we’re all here together. I’m a law professor who works on the intersection of corporate law and election law. I write about corruption. If you have a podcast I’d love to talk about my new book 📖 Corporatocracy. 🥰https://nyupress.org/9781479828326/corporatocracy/

I have at least two books in those stolen cashes online. It took me years to write each book. While I love it when any human reads one of my books in a real library, I did feel exploited when apparently multiple ai companies just took those stolen books to train ai. #ai is a plagiarism machine. 📚
Book piracy is so specifically weird to me. We have whole buildings where you walk in and get books for free. And if they don't have what you want, often they will find it for you. And libraries help authors. And libraries build communities.

We already made books a common good, no piracy needed.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Short, funny, and, at this point, sad to read. It was Jan. 19, 2017, and Trump was about to be inaugurated. So we wrote him a Constitution in tweets and hashtags. Starts out this way: www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

Good point 👇🏾 #ai
One thing thats annoyed me about ai adoption is how self identified data and science people are approaching it so unscientifically.

Before making a decision about whether to accept something as true or adopt a new drug, etc, scientists set a parameter of acceptable error.

But we dont for ai?

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

Wut?
FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly showed up in New Zealand this summer with diplomatic pleasantries and a handful of plastic guns that authorities rushed to get rid of because of an explosion risk.

Firearms specialists concluded that Patel’s 3D-printed revolvers met the legal definition of actual firearms under New Zealand law.
