Miami Hurricanes beat writer for the South Florida Sun Sentinel. He/Him. Posting through it. These are crazy days but they make me shine. Tips/jokes: [email protected]
This year, I'm cooking the turkey (as I have the last several years) and one of our appetizers (cranberry or sausage and brie crescent rolls).

Trying something new where I cook the turkey with cheesecloth soaked in butter and herbs on top of it.
Let’s run this again, was fun last year, what new adversities are we about to create for ourselves on the field, drop your menus below

Hurricanes getting healthier before regular-season finale
The Hurricanes have a tough test on the road against Pittsburgh this week, but they should be the healthiest they’ve been in weeks.

Corey Hetherman at the lectern now. He said the Hurricanes had their worst tackling game against Virginia Tech (it isn't by the number of missed tackles, but they did muss a bunch).

He said UM defenders sometimes went for the "kill shot" instead of fundamentally tackling.

Shannon Dawson, asked about Virginia Tech holding UM under 3 yards per carry, jokes that he probably should've run it up the middle more.

Mario Cristobal is very complimentary of Pitt freshman QB Mason Heintschel.

"He doesn't look like a freshman at all."
November 24, 2025 at 8:12 PM
Mario Cristobal said he does not foresee any issues with Jakobe Thomas on Saturday. He said Thomas was cleared for practice today and should be full-go tomorrow.

Mario Cristobal at the lectern for his weekly press conference.

"Just really excited for this opportunity. Unbelievable opportunity coming up this Saturday."

The last four minutes of Something Corporate’s “Konstantine.”

Perfection.

The Delta flight I just boarded is playing a piano and strings cover of Despacito.

I am so ready to be home.

Just finished Vincent Bugliosi’s “Four Days in November,” which is basically a several-hundred-page, minute-by-minute breakdown of Oswald, Kennedy, Ruby, the Dallas Police, the FBI and Secret Service’s actions between the assassination and Oswald’s murder.

Oswald very much Did It.
We all saw one self-motivated guy with a rifle get a shot off at Trump at a rally in 2024. Is it really so hard to believe that one self-motivated guy with a rifle killed JFK in 1963?

Sources are saying he is good at soccer.
Lionel Messi's last seven games:

I don’t meant to put Miami fans on blast, but coming from UF, where people care about *everything*, I’m surprised how little people care about the non-football programs.

It’s apples and oranges (big public school in college town vs. small private school in major city) but it surprised me at first.
What’s been the most surprising thing you’ve learned about the program since you started covering it.
November 23, 2025 at 10:24 PM
Probably 15-30K at the ones I went to. But that’s a totally different thing. That’s just once a year.
How many at the Gator Growl?
November 23, 2025 at 8:49 PM
Baseball. I was terrible at it. My first year of “kid pitch” I got one hit all season lol. But I could field decently well.
What was your favorite sport to play when you were growing up?
November 23, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Cam Ward. It was truly joyful to watch him command that offense last year. It was like watching a conductor manage an orchestra.

And he was a good quote.
favorite hurricane of all time, any sport?

Press box food? I wouldn’t say Hard Rock lol. It’s fine but not amazing. Solidly middle of the pack.

I like when press boxes do regional food. Lincoln Financial in Philly had cheesesteaks. Were they the best ever? Nah. But that’s fun.

Worst? SMU. They had breakfast sandwiches that were bad.
What CFB stadium has the best food? (Can’t say Hard Rock)

I have a lot of #political opinions but I’ll be honest: I genuinely don’t care.

I get all the arguments against it. And if you do, then hey, make your point. But like I just can’t bring myself to care.
Thoughts on banning nationalist pageantry before games? (pledge of allegiance, jets flying over the field, etc)

Olde Salem. Currently 3/3 on beers I’ve tried.
Which brewery star city baby
November 23, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Texas A&M.

I went to UM’s game there in ‘22. My BIL was in his senior year there. We all went to Midnight Yell. It was nuts. 50K for a late night pep rally. The press box sways and bounces during the game.

All the people who mock A&M are right. It’s a cult. But every fanbase would kill for it.
Favorite CFB stadium/experience?

Is it cheating to say a virgin pina colada? Let me get that with a slice of key lime pie and let me waste away in Margaritaville.
As someone who loves a fancy mocktail, what is the best and what would you pair it with?

(I keep getting Shirley Temples. Which are great but could use more and no clue what to eat with it.)
November 23, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Lager all day.

But my favorite beers tend to be either super sweet fruited sours or porters, oddly enough.
November 23, 2025 at 7:52 PM
Y’all, I’ve got some time before my flight. I’m chilling at a Roanoke brewery.

AMA EXCEPT College Football Playoff stuff. And let’s keep it on the fun side (no politics or anything like that).
