He's been dropped by every distributor; he hasn't had a new 'main line' product for one of his games since fall of 2016, and the other product line has gone fallow since 2012.

I put a lot of thought into that first turn teach through for Squadron Strike, and have scenarios where the players get to use every phase of the game by turn 3. A lot of it is teaching the patterns of play in the game.
Legit when I'm going to play a game like, say, Terra Mystica or Brass Birmingham with friends I have to teach it to I will literally rehearse my teach for a few days because I want them to have a good experience, and I've had great games have shitty first impressions because of terrible teaches.
I used to think I didn’t like board games or a lot of games really, then I found out that I just don’t like having to learn how to play a game from people who are bad at explaining it. And because some don’t know, you can play a game very well AND be bad at explaining how to play the game.

Learning about MAP, REDUCE, SCAN, LET and LAMBDA functions in Excel. Plus better understanding how array formulas work by default in Excel.
If I'm right about these...there's the potential to reduce a _lot_ of the repeated formulas in the Squadron Strike Spreadsheet of Doom.
