Actually all for encouraging people to dress better in public spaces. As a New Orleanian I am endlessly horrified by how tourists dress while stomping about the French Quarter, ruining the look of the cultural heart of our city. It’s also why Europeans hate great big hordes of American visitors.

Mamdani really is impressive and a different politician in many ways. When politicians make deals across old battle lines they almost always drop and disavow the rhetoric/ claim to have changed their views. Yesterday Mamdani went on nat. TV and just said “yup, absolutely still think he’s a fascist”

As someone in academia-adjacent work, this looks like much more of an urgent issue for people like me to engage on and worry out than the demand that I must MUST adopt and learn AI.
The capacity of individuals to think independently is about as fundamental a value as one can imagine on this earth.

Noting the congressional pension is based on service time, it kicks in at 5 years and her retirement date - Jan. 5, 2026 - will be the first business day after she passes five years since her first swearing in. bsky.app/profile/heli...
Any idea why she's quitting then? Her statement isn't very coherent (big surprise), although it would make more sense as an explanation of just not running for re-election.
