hi, i'm saint! i'm an artist inspired by the decorative and ornamental art of the 1800s, naturalism in painting, and organic designs. i use a wide range of techniques and mediums to make creature-focused art (all handcrafted) and i love to oil paint live at cons!

Needing multiple streams of income to stay afloat is a societal failure not a personal one. You should be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle with one job. You are not lazy.

yall remember those color palette memes from tumblr? yeah in hindsight they were horrible color palettes. no value range at all and bad mix of warm / cool.

anyway did one tonight for old time's sake and to compare to the last time i did it which was *checks notes* jesus christ 2017. my bones.

my new job, staff at r1 flagship state uni, has 100% tuition reimbursement for all courses taken at their campus / other state campuses AND i could do it part time online. so. why not. lets add more letters to my resume.

i love working in higher ed. i got my last masters degree (a M. Ed in instructional design from accredited college) for basically nothing, bc my old employer (also a college) paid for $6k worth of courses a year and I did an accelerated, 1-year program that was only $8k or so total.

made an absolute bit of garbage at figure drawing tonight. Total rubbish. A real stinker. Spent 45 minutes fighting it only to give up on the last 15 and scurry out early, tail btwn my legs. Didn't even take a picture of it, it was that bad.

doe / buck is just such convenient shorthand for the female and male form / socialization / narratives. im fascinated by gender and its societal impact but i only want to approach it from a sidelong, peripheral way. sneak up on it. put out a salt lick for it.

im starting to realize why so many of my favorite artists from tumblr days have drifted off / disappear - because once you have a full time (non-art or social media) job, AND you want to hang out with friends, AND progress in your passions ... there's not a lot of time / energy left for socmed art..

like this piece. untitled so far - working on that (thinking either "we can only wait" or "each year the same"). looks way better in person vs through a screen, so sharing through a screen feels bad. so I don't!

i feel rather invisible online these days, most of my time is spent in private discords or doing stuff in person ... my art is getting better, but I'm just so bad about sharing it when it's done. maybe because it's not interesting to a general audience?? im kind of making work for myself first

gonna try to get more involved with my local arts community - my weekly figure drawing is hosted by a local art league, and I reached out to the head of it to offer coordinating /running some plein air paint outs and she was soooo supportive so !! fingers crossed members want to do it!!
