Given my bio, here is the piece I wrote for Emerging Cricket last year on Indonesian women's cricket, and the infrastructure that launched the senior team to a T20I ranking of 21 and the U19s to Indonesia's first ever global ICC event.

And they did it again! Absolutely walloped India in the second test to sweep the series! What an amazing performance from this South Africa team, and what fun it was to watch their offspinner in full flow. Test cricket remains glorious. #INDvSA 🏏
Congratulations, South Africa! What a fantastic performance by skipper Temba Bavuma and his spinners to beat India at home for the first time in 15y! Fantastic display of offspin bowling by Harmer. Lovely to see the world champions win this handily on a tricky pitch inside 3 days. #INDvSA 🏏

I haven't seen this comparison made since the Perth Test yet, but since it's not every day I can make a cricketing Kendrick Lamar reference, the match was pretty much Mitchell Starc going "fuck the big 3, it's just big me"

It's a shame this India vs SA series is only two Tests, SA's doing a real good job of grinding India down in the field. Great antidote to the Perth Test.

Check out this prediction for the 2013 #Ashes series from the 2005 book "Cricket: Celebrating the Modern Game Around the World" by Philip Brown and Lawrence Booth.

You have the series being played in Sharjah and Michael Clarke has to convince the TV audience thathe's made his ground!

My apologies to all Australian and English cricket folks, but this was the funniest possible scorecard to wake up to, given all the hype and the build up and dramatics around the Ashes.

The big #cricket news today is coming out of Bangkok, where in the ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy, there were two upsets where Thailand were knocked off by PNG, while UAE were comprehensively beaten by the Netherlands! This tournament is anyone's now.

ICC tv needs a megawall, Tanzania are potentially getting revenge on Namibia beating them to the World Cup qualifier and Uganda aren't far away from beating Scotland, both games being played simultaneously!

I don't how to describe how exciting this is to people who haven't been reading this multi-year series of Steve Smith Diaries shitposts on r/cricket. What started as simple jokes about Smith and the Aussie team is now wrapping up its elaborate arc, it's gonna be great.

More info if you're curious 👇
Posted a thing on my Substack as a little preview of my Ashes shitposting. There'll be cricket jokes, Steve Smith jokes, Ashes jokes, Bazball jokes, and just some basic joke jokes. It'll be great. Hopefully.

A Super League that ties into a World Cup, avoids thorny matchups, and tied to League 2 is an easy fix

14 teams incl 2 AMs into groups of 7, Ind and Aus in different groups to Pak and Afg. Top 4/5 in each group qualify for WC, bottom teams relegated. 6 x 3 match series in 4 years seems workable
ODI Super League being back is a positive step, but from the ICC's press release it sounds like it will be like the WTC - only for the full members.

Guaranteed series between the Big 3, series against smaller nations not guaranteed to be completed or funded and no promotion/relegation with the WCL.

The radical plan to split Test cricket into 2 tiers appears to have failed.

The WTC is set to expand to include all 12 teams in one division for 2027-29.

The ODI Super League is set to be revived while Associates push for a global qualifier for T20 WC

Thanks @daisycutterzine.bsky.social for publishing this piece!

(Apologies if it's still very clear it was originally written in 2023, before that series finished. I did try to re-purpose it as a preview for this upcoming Ashes)
hot, fresh, nutritious ashes discourse!

our pal adhitya sutresna makes the case for ben stokes as hannibal (not the one who eats people) and looks at the parallels between the 2023 series and the punic wars. this is what you follow for isn't it.

Also great that the ICC recognises that women's cricket can be a growth engine for the game (now India has won the World Cup). Any chance of letting more than 16 teams have a chance of qualifying for it? How about some proper financial support for Thailand and the Afghan refugee teams? Anyone...?

Timor Leste play their first international cricket match tomorrow, against Indonesia.

As one of my first political campaigns was against the sale of British military jets to Indonesia for use against he Timorese independence movement, it makes me a little emotional to see them play each other.
