I voted against the third reading of the Devolution Bill. I support genuine devolution, including real funding and powers for mayors, and that is what the Bill makes some good progress on. Stronger local decision-making can help communities deliver what works on the ground.

In the next few weeks the government will launch its Animal Welfare Strategy.

I spoke at the Centre for Animals and Social Justice conference in Cambridge to set out what @greenparty.org.uk wants to see included in that strategy.

Great to speak to residents in Diss yesterday about national and local issues. Lots of concern over the state of our NHS and especially the lack of dentists - I continue to raise questions on this in Parliament, and with the local NHS, pressing for the necessary investment & contract reform.

Funding must be prioritised for the Ely & Haughley railway junctions: crucial infrastructure upgrades that will improve rail capacity, relieve congestion, reduce carbon emissions and enhance the regional economy.

Next week’s budget must deliver justice for hard-pressed families by fully scrapping the cruel two-child benefit cap and fairly taxing wealth.

With @greenparty.org.uk colleagues I have written to the Chancellor with a very simple message: Cut bills. Tax billionaires.
It is a political choice to keep children in poverty whilst billionaire and multimillionaire wealth grows larger.

@greenparty.org.uk has today written to the Chancellor urging her to use the next week's Budget to tax wealth fairly, cut bills and deliver real change.

I was delighted to attend @ciwf.org.uk’s #EndTheCageAge reception last week. Earlier in the week, I urged the Minister to use the Animal Welfare Strategy to phase out cages and ensure all hens have the freedom to move.

As extreme weather becomes more common, many insurers are raising premiums or pulling cover entirely - as shown in FloodRe report earlier this year.

I have asked the Government what immediate support is being put in place for people who are left without insurance and need help now.

"A small tax on [multimillionaires and billionaires] would make a big difference to the money we have available."

Ahead of next week's Budget, @adrianramsay.bsky.social makes the case for taxing the wealth of the richest in society to fund our public services.

Thank you to Later Life Ambitions for speaking with me recently. Every person deserves dignity in later life, and we must value what older people give to society — from caring for family to volunteering, working and keeping communities strong. #LaterLifeAmbitions

The Tropical Forests Scheme launched at COP30 in Brazil is vital for protecting tropical forests.
The Government has reportedly decided not to contribute, an astonishing failure of leadership and a setback to our emissions reduction and international nature commitments.

The upcoming Animal Welfare Strategy must include a clear plan to phase out cages for hens and farrowing crates for pigs.

These crates are so small that sows can’t even turn around. These practices must end and farmers must be supported with the transition.

🦷 DIY dentistry should never be anyone’s only option.
Across the country people can’t get an NHS dentist. Children end up in hospital with tooth decay and adults live in pain. NHS dentistry needs urgent funding and reform.

It’s time for the Government to fix this gap for good.

The work the National Society for Phenylketonuria does to raise awareness about phenylketonuria (PKU) is incredible. PKU is a lifelong condition that severely restricts what people can eat.

On #ArmisticeDay we remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. We must truly honour their legacy by pursuing a more peaceful world.

Always great catching up with Christine, Nic and the team at The Locks Inn. It’s such a brilliant community pub. Thanks to Nic for updating me on the renewable energy plans.

And good to speak with residents about issues affecting Geldeston.

In 2024, the Supreme Court ruled that climate impacts must be considered in planning decisions.

Yet councils are allowing mega farms to conceal their emissions.

Thirty-five developments have routinely ignored or downplayed the industry’s carbon footprint.

Delighted to push for an equal Parliament with 50/50 Parliament.

If we want to ensure our Parliament really serves everyone, we need equal representation.

That is why it is vital that parties #AskHerToStand and support more women into politics.

It’s absurd that private jet fuel is still untaxed when ordinary people are seeing living costs go up and up.

I joined We Are Possible to call on the Chancellor to end this unfairness & make the richest pay their fair share, to support our public services & a healthy environment
November 7, 2025 at 10:49 AM
I said yesterday that the chancellor was laying the ground for her budget as hard choices for everyone but the wealthiest.⁣

And now the chancellor is reportedly going to cut vital funding for desperately needed home insulation to cut bills.
November 5, 2025 at 11:55 AM
This morning the Chancellor spoke of difficult decisions for everyone but the ultra-rich.

It’s time to tackle the cost of living crisis, end child poverty and invest in our vital public services by taxing extreme wealth fairly.

Make no mistake, the Chancellor is laying the groundwork for her budget as hard choices for everyone but the wealthiest.⁣

𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 on taxing extreme wealth, 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 on shifting the burden onto those with the broadest shoulders.⁣

We must ensure polluters, not the poorest, pay for climate action.

Ahead of COP30, we have written to the Prime Minister, urging him to ensure that those most responsible bear the cost.
