One of the highlights of my job is getting to speak with school children about my work as Waveney Valley's MP and hear what matters to them.

Bacton Primary School’s pupils did not disappoint with their inquisitive questions about life as an MP and how we can help wildlife.

Diss Amnesty has week in, week out held a vigil for the people of Gaza, making sure we remember the ongoing dire humanitarian crisis. I was pleased to join them against last Saturday and talk about how I am pressing our Government to do more, including on access to aid and healthcare

A strategy is only as good as its delivery. I welcome the Animal Welfare Strategy, but it lacks clear timescales for action.

It also leaves major omissions, including imports of fur and trophy hunting.

The Govt must ensure this strategy delivers real, lasting change for animals

Thank you so much to the boys, girls and teachers at Bressingham for welcoming me this week. It was one of the highlights of my week.

It was great to meet the school dog Waffle too! (He looks like the famous Waffle dog, doesn't he?)

I really enjoyed my visit to Bressingham Primary School. The pupils’ questions were fascinating, from the importance of wildlife and preventing flooding to what it is like being an MP.

The Govt's National Security Assessment is a stark warning, showing that global biodiversity loss & ecosystem collapse threaten the UK’s security & prosperity.

I welcome the Leader of the House's commitment to make time available so we can debate this critical issue.

Retail, hospitality and leisure businesses face significant business rate rises this April.

I raised the Blue Boar in Walsham le Willows with the Minister on behalf of the family who run it. Village pubs are vital for jobs, social connection, and rural community life.

It was great to chat with the Samaritans today on Brew Monday about the importance of looking after your own mental health & checking in on others.

It is vital that the govt publishes its progress report on the Suicide Prevention Strategy as soon as possible.

The Eye Opportunities Group does fantastic work supporting families across large parts of Suffolk and Norfolk. The group provides specialist play and family support for children under five with additional needs, offering structured sessions for both children and parents.

Thanks to the boys and girls at St Peter & St Paul Primary School for welcoming me on Monday. Great to see the fantastic work of their eco council, making a real difference in reducing the school’s carbon footprint, and to chat with students about life as a local MP.

I was delighted to host @heattrust.bsky.social to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Heat networks are set to play a vital role in the transition to clean heating, helping to decarbonise homes and meet our climate targets.

Just left PMQs without getting called. Yesterday, the OEP warned that the UK will miss most environmental targets by 2030.

Nature is in crisis, and the watchdog needs real teeth, not just bark.

Thanks to the Park Hotel in Diss for welcoming my team and me yesterday as we plan for the year ahead.

It is great to see good support for this locally owned businesses reopened in the heart of our community.

It’s been obvious from the outset that the Government needed to review the APR threshold.

It’s baffling that it took 14 months to do so.

I've asked the Government if they recognise the emotional and financial cost of this 14-month delay to farmers?

Two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.

But soon there may be no turtle doves left. Their numbers have declined by 99% since the 1960s.

That’s why I’m backing the
RSPB's calls for proper, sustained funding for nature-friendly farming.

Well done, Aoife, and thank you to every pupil who took part.
December 12, 2025 at 1:19 PM
It was great to be at Bungay Primary School to meet Aoife in Year 5, the winner of my Christmas card competition. Her fantastic design, with beautiful and detailed drawings of animals and a lovely winter scene, will appear on my Christmas cards.

As a parent myself, I am concerned about risks posed to children and younger teenagers by social media. So I'm supportive of the new rules in Australia, though there's lots of detail to work out on how best to protect young people in the UK.

Really enjoyed my visit to NorwichCityFC to see the fantastic work they do for the community and the environment. Lovely to see the allotment and solar panels at the Colney training ground as well as the impressive facilities.

Lots of energy and excitement at the @greenparty.org.uk action day in #Stowmarket today.

Great to join @cllrctopping.bsky.social, @netdunning.bsky.social and @midsuffolkgreen.bsky.social councillors with party members from across Suffolk and beyond to get our positive message out.

You can’t always see Crohn’s or Colitis, but 1 in 120 people in the UK live with it.

Flare-ups can strike without warning, invisible to others, yet enough to disrupt daily life.

In case it wasn't already obvious why Farage and his party are spreading misinformation about the climate crisis and trying to blame the most vulnerable for the problems caused by inequality - they've just received a record donation from a jet fuel multimillionaire!

The Government says it will publish the Animal Welfare Strategy by year's end. It must come out while the House is still sitting, to enable scrutiny.

I have also pressed them to confirm that it will set a clear timeline to end cruel farrowing crates and cages.
December 4, 2025 at 1:50 PM
People say the UK leads on animal welfare, yet many animals are still kept in awful conditions that others in Europe have already moved away from.

Today I brought together thirty-six MPs and Lords to urge the SoS at Defra to end farrowing crates and cages.
