Anyone living with chronic illness has at least one horror story of being gaslit, dismissed or infantilized by a doctor. Many have numerous stories, yet non disabled people often doubt us

The comments on this Reddit post about EDS, MCAS & POTS show why many disabled people refuse to go to hospital:

Given the proposed mask ban in New York, now feels like a good time to remind folks that disability advocates in Illinois are trying to codify the right to wear masks into law

If successful this could be a critical step in protecting the right to mask across the US

See below for how you can help!
Mask bans already exist in certain States and counties.

Vance spearheaded a federal ban on mask mandates.

Organizing to codify the right to wear medical masks and respirators is (sadly) needed.

Masking is community care and resistance.

Illinois attempting to codify right to mask into law:
HB3853: The Protective Medical Equipment Freedom Act

“I don’t know anyone with Long Covid!”

I promise you that you do.

Long Covid is an invisible illness. You won’t know someone is impacted unless they choose to tell you.

Many folks hide their disabilities because the world is NOT kind to disabled people. Be an ally. Be someone we can confide in

PolyBio president Dr. Amy Proal outlines the direction that research must take to address long COVID in her new op-ed for @latimes.com: “The urgency of long COVID is a call to arms for government and private funders to help bring medications and protocols to the people who need them.”
Opinion: Long COVID is solvable, but we need more clinical trials
Some people may remain ill after COVID infection because the virus still lurks in their bodies. The looming question now is: Who will pay for drug development and trials?

I don’t know what comes next, but I know Canadians will rise to the challenge. We will continue to extend a hand in friendship to our American neighbours. We know most of you don’t want this either.

We will stand proud and remain true to our values always. We will overcome /13

I want to commend Trudeau for stating that it’s important that “no one part of the country should carry a heavier burden than any other. We’re all in this together and we will get through this together.”

That’s the Canadian way. We don’t abandon one another. We come together.

It would be such a relief to be able to just trust. Trust a doctor, trust a family member, trust a co-worker.

Having to be skeptical and plan ahead at every step is such a burden to bear.

Welcome to #longCOVID world.

What's worse than a huge chunk of highly-skilled workers in life-critical industries suffering from COVID-induced cognitive impairment?

When it happens and *nobody is telling them what's happening, why, or how to protect themselves*.

Good explanation of mechanisms behind PEM in LC.

I do think they meant to say there's no cure for LC, not that there's no treatment ;)
