I have an older brother who was at the Camden Electric Ballroom gig in 1984/85 which (I think) was directly after the North London Poly gig which ended in a riot. My brother’s 2 word summation of the gig - Scary atmosphere.
Yes, would have loved it if they would have made Psychocandy Part 2 rather than the damp Darklands LP. Gigs as antagonistic confrontations really impress(ed) me too.
I do like Darklands title track, bits of Automatic (although The Pixies version of Head On beats the original hands down) and the cover of Leonard Cohen’s Tower of Song from the Rollercoaster EP but really it is slim pickings post Psychocandy.
