‪Also, check out this grin on sweet li'l Reveille I. No wonder she was every student's friendly pet dog!‬

As Texas A&M prepares to lay our Reveille IX to rest today, here are some words written about the first Reveille after she passed away in 1944, as the cadets training to go to war stopped to grieve for their little black-and-white mutt:
A newspaper clipping reads: “Reveille was more than just a dog. She was a symbol in the memory of every boy who stopped to pet her, a symbol that reminded one of the pup left behind at home, and a reminder of the many other things left behind in the quest for greater knowledge. Rev stood for something worth fighting for, something that boys in foxholes could think about, for she meant to them not only a remembrance of Aggieland but the memory of home.”

Here's a pic of my actual one from the actual 1990s 🤣 Get you a barrel clasp (at Michaels) and some fishing line, and you are 94% there!

Ok its ‘feed it off an aux, speak, grunt no strength, the ladder start to clatter with fear fight down height, wire in a fire representing seven games, a government for hire and a combat site’.

You are always way too good to me, my friend. I learned a ton from doing this story - basically, all the stuff I wanted to ask a cadet but never bothered them with! And I kinda hope it does work that way for current students, just as you say! 😊😊

Northgate's looking a little different, if you've been gone over the summer

"If Aggies do it twice, it's a tradition" is a much older sentiment than I realized! This is 1947 😊

(specifically, Feb. 7, 1947, in the Battalion. howdy from the archives!)
A newspaper clipping from 1947 reads, "There is a saying at A&M that when two students this year do something that was done by two students last year, a new tradition has been established. That is not a great exaggeration."

There is all the spontaneous sofa recycling, which i love (and absolutely participated in during college)
But also quite seriously: They deserve hazard pay for this time of year. I just passed by a complete floor lamp stuffed in a dumpster.

We wanted the robots to mow the lawn and do the laundry, right? And let us write and paint and make music? Or at least idk, nap in hammocks
