Currently developing 3 papers for independent research in Political, Social, & Gender Studies:

1· The Political & Social Philosophy of Puella Magi Madoka Magica (2011)
2· A Socio-Political Analysis of the Sailor Moon Metaseries (1992-2023)
3· Comparative Politics & Gender in The Magical Girl Genre
As I reach the final stages of my paper on the political exploration of the anime series 'Puella Magi Madoka Magica' (2011- ) through the lens of Homura Akemi, I’ve decided to pause the work until Walpurgisnacht Rising releases in Feb 2026. I have high hopes for what this new installment will bring.

Side note which has nothing to do with demos:
I think if you utilize your library you'll find yourself infinitely more diversily read since there's less of a pressure to like something before buying it!! It's a great way to check out things without hurting your wallet.
i think a lot of ppl who think manga demos are pointless project a lot of their own incuriosity in reading outside shonen onto shoujo fans when in actuality a majority of shoujo readers read EVERYTHING whether it be genre or demos (partially due to necessity or you'd get nothing)

I love how micro-blogging organizes passing thoughts into clear outlines for longer writing. Great training for fighting writer’s block.

1/16:
Colleen @colleensmangarecs.bsky.social just released a video titled “All Art is Political… Yes, Even Manga.”
It’s an amazing take on an old conversation within the community and beyond.
The following threads are why Colleen is right, and why all art is political

It’s a good move to demand credibility from well-established influencers when they discuss serious topics; but here’s the question: does a university degree really make someone credible, or would a double peer review on their videos be a better option?

Not long ago, I wasn’t really much into anime. I used to ask anime fan-friends to explain the differences in genre.
Today, my friend joked, “So, you finally know all the genres?”
And I said, “I told you not to push me into becoming a weeb or I’d dive straight into the abyss”
Well… here we are now.

2026 is shaping up to be the year of the Destroyers, with a wave of mahou shoujo deconstructions lined up.
First Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and now Magical Girl Raising Project.
I already invested, What is next?
"Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart" - New Teaser Visual!

The anime is scheduled for 2026.
Studio: SynergySP

I am searching for the full 16-page manga The Mysterious Clover (1934) (Nazo no Kurobaa) by Matsumoto Katsuji. If anyone can find it or has it, please let me know!

Forget “Goku vs. Sailor Moon.”
I’d pay good money to watch the magical girls of the Madoka universe go to war with every Sailor Soldiers from the Serenity universe.
That’d be the ultimate genre-bending battle of anime history.

Hear me out, Homura Akemi vs Sailor Pluto? No? Yes? Anyone?
arguably, Puella Magi Madoka Magica functions not only as a deconstruction of the mahou shoujo subgenre but also as a disruptive , villainous force that contributing to the broader collapse of shoujo identity in anime industry.

I seriously can’t wait for Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising (2026).
I’ve never looked forward, this intensely, to any film or anime in my life. I need this before I wrap up my paper on this franchise.

Also can I talk about how meaningful the posters are?

Remember, that fake AI-generated video, shared on official Truth Social account, will ultimately be preserved as an official presidential record in the Library of Congress. Future scholars will study it as part of the evolution of political communication. We’ve truly reached that point in history.

If a Louvre heist can happen in 2025, then even information protected by military-grade security seems vulnerable. Why not raise the stakes for collective benefit? HEY.. we are bored, level up the fun, I will hold onto my popcorn.

After 3 months of researching for my paper on Madoka Magica , while holding to two other papers, one on Sailor Moon and another on the political and gender dynamics of the magical girl genre, I’ve decided to binge watch all the essential shoujo and mahou shoujo anime from the 1960s to the present.

Direct answer for younger generation who have this question. No, we mostly didn't memorize phone numbers except for those close-family lines. We had phone-contact notebook on the side-table beside landline-phone, a pen/pencil, and we would write down the name, the numbers; sometimes the address too.
If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.

This anti-AI feud feels like history repeating itself, first with Digital art (Photoshop as a tool) versus traditional art (painting on Canvas), then with ebooks versus physical books.
In both cases, the old mediums survived, but those who didn't adapt to the new tools were left behind.

I just read 'Reflections on the Way to the Gallows' by Kanno Sugako (1919), translated by Mikiso Hane.

No one has ever made me feel the weight of the word 'Goodbye' more than Kanno Sugako did.

The position of supporting one theocratic, colonial state to overthrow another is a hypocritical and contradictory stand. Our solidarity should not be with a state because of its people, but with the people in their struggle to overthrow both states.

"The individual is the true reality in life. A cosmos in himself, he does not exist for the State, nor for that abstraction called “society,” or the “nation,” which is only a collection of individuals."

A true act for the collective is validated only when the personal values of each individual are met collectively, in a manner that isn't dismissed as mere 'selfish desire.' The desire to be part of a cause should not eradicate the importance of individual authenticity for the sake of agency.

I repeat:
AI is the future. It's also a warning to the digital resistance, individuals and parties; we must foster it, not fight it, before it's too late.

Yeah, Bluesky definitely needs a professional Head of Communications to clean up the mess, convince the public that the platform is 'decentralized' in a way that's more than just 'open-source codes' diversion, and perform the godlike job of saving the 'Architects' from a total debacle.

1/6:
Kyubey from Madoka Magica and Luna from Sailor Moon are fascinating ideological counterparts.

Kyubey represents the ultimate oppression of a capitalist system, one that systematically harvests the labor and emotional energy of Magical girls for source of his own energy.

There's an ongoing debate between Shounen and Shojo fandoms: 'Who would win, Sailor Moon or Goku?'

But I prefer to think bigger: 'Who will win: the Sailor Moon fandom or Taylor Swift's Swifties?'

Come back to me for the answer after 33 years.
