Hi! I'm Chris from Airwindows and you can do this :)

I guess it's fitting that it's a reimagined, worse version of someone else's artwork

I got Godot RenderingServer working. Not well: it makes a phantom extra guy at 0,0,0 that I can't get to go away. But I got it working and making a phantom guy that's a clone of a game object without making more nodes in the tree :)

I have coding to do, but I really absolutely have to bring some firewood in even though it's snowing. Because it's NOT getting warmer anytime soon and there's no sense waiting for a nice day in which to do it. This, even though there are NINE in-process plugins being worked on.

Ya can't lose the real WWIII and get puppeted around by Russia and just go 'woopsy, never mind that, we're fine'. This is a good real from the reality-based world. They ought to be careful in turn, and not assume they're immune from what got us.

OK, let's try to executive function our way into making a damn plugin video, even though I have ideas for the video game and updates to make on yet-to-be-released plugins

A day of tinkering with the video game :) it has a win state! But not half the play mechanics the previous iteration had. Much to be done, doesn't even have sound yet :)

I think I managed a small improvement in 'automated reverb seems-like-distant-and-not-metallic-testing' :) downside: this means re-evaluating nearly 500 potential reverbs. Upside, it might better highlight the really great sounding ones :)

Very very tired but I think I have an angle on critiquing these reverbs I keep making. I'm going to try variations on Michael Norris's spectral tracing to get into how some of them have better textures than others. If I can come up with a measurement that'll be even better.

Well, that was scary: lugging about trashcans full of firewood, smashed my finger. Fortunately, trashcan is heavy bendy plastic and wasn't able to break it, just only frighten it for a minute.

Couldn't stop lugging firewood, mind you: if I don't do that it doesn't happen and then FIRE GO OUT (!!!)

Yup: this one's insightful, even as a general look at the situation. TLDR: the poverty line is food based, but everything else is more expensive than it was when the poverty line was invented. I know I rely on my other costs not being too high, and food's like 5% or so.
This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

Late livestream turned into a huge #gamedev burst of action: started out unable to make bots (a game piece) have unique textures, ended up implementing their whole AI and the world around them and running hundreds and hundreds of them at once in a giant horde of colorful chaos :)

Looks like I can take yesterday's plugin, and have it sound and act EXACTLY the same but use far fewer variables for more efficient operation. I foresee an update-in-place that isn't even a bugfix so much as a refactoring. This should also work for my bigger 6x6 verbs. It even makes 'em look simpler

Up at 1:30 after really wild dreams, now to see if they are prophetic. Also, a fine time for woodstove and really slow, patient coding of upcoming plugins that aren't terribly complicated or hard. Sometimes you just roll with it.

Carried firewood, went through sixty possible reverb algorithms, posted VerbTiny the new plugin: I am beyond exhausted, going to bed hours before it's technically bedtime. Goodnight <3

At some point it would be fun to work out how many years I've been saying this, since way before it was common knowledge. Thing is, I didn't have proof, I was just sure. Guess there's a lot more proof of it now, which was not my doing :)

Look who did all the work to make the failed plugin experiment from a couple days ago (yesterday?) the NEW plugin for tomorrow! It was way too much fun to let slide. Dial-a-reverb-space-shape :)

Paul's being really sharp again: I feel like what he's saying about Russia's destruction hurting the value of the very territory they're fighting to conquer, is just as relevant to destruction of the political environment. Easy to miss watching only the fighting.

'k, spent some hours trying to extend one of the new reverbs and only managed to break it catastrophically, after starting out with it acting OK. Did find a separate bug in doing so. I cannot go farther with this today, so it will just have to resume some other time. I don't see what could've broke.

Spent some hours getting the vidyagame to respond to inputs: mouse look, wasd for side to side and forward and back motion, though it is in SPAAAAACE. I'm also instantiating a fellow thing to float there in space, and a big moonlike thing for reference. Tomorrow gets to be a little more amusing :)

Spent a lot of the day tinkering with Godot. Didn't get game working in the least… but made the pieces way prettier than they had any right to be :) gonna be fun when that starts to come together!

A day of intensive modular rebuilding and re-arranging, and also capturing my whole Flo and Eddie era Zappa collection to the computer. Next, older Mothers (of which there is a lot…)

Recently visited the Glass Flowers at Harvard, a collection of 4,300 extraordinarily realistic glass models of plants crafted by the Blaschkas, a father and son team of sculptors

That’s right, these are all made primarily of GLASS — a fact difficult to accept given how accurate & lifelike they are
