A lot of companies determine fixed prices before the beginning of their fiscal years. If companies are already fixing prices because of the tariff threat, then that's it. Whether the tariffs happen or not, those prices are locked in for a year. And they won't go down if profits aren't affected.
Walmart is prepping to raise prices in response to Trump's vow to place tariffs on all import goods.

So I have years of experience in manufacturing that includes importing supplies. It pisses me off that my family voted for Trump because of his "economics" but didn't even think to ask the only family member with personal experience what a fucking tariff is.
