This is terrifying on so many levels.
CBP got their raid sweeps down to less than 7 minutes here in LA. By the time reporters receive tips, the raids are done and the feds are gone and with them, people. Trying to document and find patterns for these raids as a reporter has been extremely frustrating and demoralizing. It really sucks
Thinking a lot this morning about how the dispersed nature of these kidnappings over such a broad area makes it so easy for them to avoid making bigger waves. The surface can appear totally calm while they're grabbing neighbors, and most people have no idea until/unless something flashy happens

It’s an absolute shame that DC fired Gretchen Felker- Martin for exercising free speech and then @bsky.app suspended her account. Every writer here should be decrying this because we have to stand up for each other! This is ridiculous.

I have no idea what white people are talking about right now. The warnings that the fascists will "use this" to do more violence. WHAT WON'T THEY USE? You've watched them deploy the US military on US soil using bullshit pretexts. What even are you talking about?

Wishing everyone great success in the Hobonichi Wars. I managed to score some Tomie items, but it was a whole coordinated effort among multiple people.

Louisiana didn’t kill this project, Louisiana politicians did (specifically Landry).
On the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, what we won’t be doing is using language that implicitly puts Louisiana residents at fault.

Of the many, many things wrong with using “AI” participants for user research, one is that you will only ever get answers to the questions you ask, and nothing more.

When I was a kid, anytime you asked my grandmother where we were going, her response was “to hell if we’re not careful” and I think that really shaped me as a person. Not towards any kind of religion or anything, but just in answering questions with unrelated warnings.

AI is a marketing term; before we discuss "AI is fake" vs "AI is real" we need to unfold what we *mean* by AI.
For example, "artificial general intelligence" is fake and can't hurt you. Layoffs excused by "AI efficiency" are real and can hurt you.
Linkedin discourse is fake - but it CAN hurt you.

The Texas floods were not a 1000-year event. They weren’t a 500-year event. That area is known for flooding; anyone familiar with it would tell you so. Of all the crazy-making things that come out of this administration, the blatant lies about the weather are up there.
