We want to get Scotland walking and wheeling. Everyone, Everywhere, Everyday.
We don't mean everywhere, everywhere. Because who has time?

But if our towns, cities and rural areas are designed and managed for walking and wheeling, the benefits are huge.

How much should we be walking?

We share the latest research findings that suggest 7,000+ steps a day can bring several meaningful health improvements.

10,000 steps a day is seen as the target for many. However, the latest research suggests that for those of us who are not already hitting those numbers, aiming for 7,000+ steps a day can bring several meaningful health improvements compared to a low of 2,000 steps. The findings, published in the Lancet Public Health, highlights that the benefits from walking 7,000 steps include: 47% lower risk of all-cause mortality 37% lower risk of cancer mortality

Have you heard about silent walking?

It's where you do not listen to music or map directions. Experts suggest it might help you reduce stress and appreciate your surroundings more. So next time, you're heading out maybe leave the headphones at home.

Do you listen to a podcast or music as you walk and wheel? Or are you more into silent walking?

I walked to the shops today in the sunshine. #SmallStepsBigImpact

The sun’s shining. A perfect excuse to leave the car behind. This week, walk or wheel for one local journey you’d normally drive.

It might feel like a small change, but that's how you start new habits. One journey at a time.

Steve Jobs famously held walking meetings.
We've heard that @richardbranson.bsky.social uses walking meetings to brainstorm and make decisions.

Looking to shake up your next meeting? We've created a walking meeting guide to help get you started.

#WalkingMeetings
why should you consider a walking meeting? walking meetings benefit you, your colleagues and workplace by... boosting mental health and wellbeing by reducing stress and improving mood and focus helping you meet daily physical activity goals, while reducing sitting time. P.S sitting all day is bad for you.
P.P.S walking is good for you

It's the start of the week. Make a commitment to get out walking or wheeling more this week.

Walk to improve your health.
Walk to think.
Walk to blow off steam.
Walk to get outside.
Walk to solve a problem.
Walk to connect.
Walk.
