An officer bungled a teen rape case. The victim was abused again.

The investigator, who did not believe the teen, faced little punishment, illustrating the different ways that officers in New York State are disciplined for misconduct.

Because of the congressional cuts, New York public media will lose at least $57 million. 27 media organizations in New York, including 18 public radio and TV stations, count on this funding.

NEW — Today, Cook County became the first county in the U.S. to establish permanent funding for guaranteed income at the county level.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved $7.5 million for the program through its FY 2026 budget, which totals $10.12 billion.

Outside her district, NYC Councilmember Susan Zhuang is probably best known for getting arrested for biting a cop during a protest against a homeless shelter in her district in 2024.

She has recently found herself more aligned with some of her progressive colleagues, particularly on immigration.

DHS named its North Carolina anti-immigrant effort "Operation Charlotte's Web." In 1940, White wrote of the "smell" that "rises" from those who "adjust to fascism" over freedom.
