Agree, I think of AI as similar to single use plastic. There may be some useful applications- like discrete targeted medical devices - but packaging every damn thing we drink or buy in it wrecks the planet. Maybe AI helps detect cancer in mammograms; cool do that but stop editing my emails.

The way many (not all!) in media and politics freak out over the "collapse" of EV battery projects, but not a peep on the unproven at scale + eye-watering carbon capture and storage government has been funneling money into for decades with very little to show.
