Whoah that's mad. I think I was alone there when I took my own pic in 2009.

A reminder that this is the same man who voted to keep the German men’s right to rape their wives, so it’s not sexual violence against German women he’s opposed to.

Some say: it was long ago! He was an adult politician, and never apologised.

So the main culture war in Germany, fought by the country’s leader, is that despite mass deportations there are still too many non-white men in German cities: which needs to change so that white German daughters can feel safer. That’s an actual position that he is taking. An incitement to violence.

I never used those "thread roller" kind of tools but I think they may be useful...
Are you rewriting the twitter threads in their entirety? They were unvaluable resources for me. I had them bookmarked.
I enjoyed listening. You're such a good interviewee 👌
TBF I'm fine with picking anyone off that generation of (mostly) equally gifted players. My personal favourites at the time were, I think, Hagi, Zidane, Mendieta and Simeone but most other possible combinations sound mouth-watering
When he didn't have to deal with Guti, Raul, Macca, Helguerra, Savio etc occupying that exact same space, yes
There are different roles in midfield indeed, to a much greater extent compared to what there was in the '90s. But the flair guys still get to play deep, they just do it differently from holders and DMs. They go there to use their vision, their passing or their ball control, instead of say strenght
No, but he did play a lot in central midfield at Real. It was a great disappointment of mine as a young football fan, I just could not understand it.
In that famous match from next season Real Madrid blew Man United while fielding only one actual midfielder, but what a midfielder: Redondo

Tbf Redondo would have needed to achieve something with Argentina so that I could crown him now as the best of that generation
An attacking midfielder and a central midfielder are both midfielders, Miguel

That said, Zidane spent a lot of time in central midfielder wearing 5 on the back while at Real Madrid, because there were too many stars upfront who needed to play. It doesn't get more midfieldery than Zidane's career

It's been a long few months building a huge website from scratch, but it's now live!

Hypha Curates is a new UK arts sales platform where 70% of sale goes to the artist & 30% funds the work of Hypha Studios, the cultural charity I'm director of.
