For #Redtuesday I'm offering The Red Lodge Museum in #Bristol It was first built in the late #Tudor period around 1580, with later additions in the 1730s & early 19th century. The #museum is free to visit, run by Bristol City Council, and displays artworks listed on the Art UK website. #History

#OtD 3 Jan 1966 military veteran and civil rights activist Sammy Younge, Jr was murdered in Alabama. Younge was killed by a gas station attendant in Macon County for trying to use the "whites-only" restroom stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/1018...

For #BridgesThursday here's a photo I took only last week of the #Clifton Suspension Bridge that spans the Avon Gorge in #Bristol It has been a toll bridge, the income provides funds for its maintenance. It was finished 5 years after it's designer, Isambard Kingdom #Brunel died #Bridge #Victorian

Walking in #Clifton, #Bristol I spotted these unusual carved figures on a Grade II listed house built around 1820, St Vincent's Priory. In the 1960s it was owned by artist George Melhuish, briefly opened to the public & later offered to Bristol City Art Gallery, who declined. #SundayStonework #Walks
