The level of churn in my particular higher ed institution is so awful to watch. As the experienced admin staff get purged or retire, so much institutional knowledge (and professionalism) is being lost. Admins will joke that staff are the wheels on the bus; what happens when the tires shred off?

God, yes. My second kid had periodic high fevers that were terrifying *with* fever reducing meds. I remember holding him in the middle of one night and thinking “if this were ‘back when’ I don’t think he’d live.” We take miracles for granted.
