I'm beginning to think that Joe Marler has never watched a single episode of #traitors before signing up for it.

This was the perfect moment, having sat through pleb versions of #traitors where anyone with a superior vocab is instantly side-eyed 🤣

“You can’t just call someone a traitor because they have a better vocabulary than you!” All praise to whoever was in charge of getting Alan Carr on board for this show, never has someone been so suited to this!

It's fantastic, I am a huge fan, and have watched all the UK series thus far, and I can safely say that you will reach a very NOT calm place while watching, where you cannot imagine how the clues are being missed by the Faithful 🤣

I feel it's especially poignant when they were so sharp before dementia takes them away. My grandma was so very intelligent, travelled a lot, did crafts, took part in various communities, liked to sing in a choir. She was always doing *something*. And now her world is so closed in comparison.

Here she is! Out for a special lunch with my mum and dad (she's my paternal grandma). Still loving life as much as she can 😍
Amanda's 95 year old grandma, smiling into the camera, dressed smartly in a red, black and white dress, and wearing a banner that says 95 and fabulous, with a tiara that spells 95!

Me: *unsubscribes from all emails*

Company: *sends me an email telling me I'm now unsubscribed*

Yes, thanks, I know that. I did it. And the reason was to ensure I didn't get any more emails from you!

Completely agree with this, the thread and the replies. This is a cruel form of punishment, it appears, for people who are crying out for help. The times I've been in front of a GP for mental health issues, I was signed off work because it was *that bad*, and I needed time and space to heal.

Can only speak for myself, but think I'm not unusual, by the time you see a GP about mental health issues, you are at crisis point - finding it hard to get out of bed, eat, speak to anyone, deal with finances etc - but sure, tell me about the jobs I can apply for at that moment.

When There Are Wolves Again is out in the UK today! I wrote something about the book, and keeping going, and some personal stuff I dithered over but, well, it's been A Year.

I'm so glad the book is out there and thank you so much to everyone who has supported it 🐺🤍

Hardback edition of When There Are Wolves Again by E. J. Swift, with cover featuring a wolf and branch/leaf/flower design, photographed in the garden with the author's cat in the background being dramatic

Yes, I sent flowers that should have arrived this morning, and I hope she delights in them even if she doesn't really know who sent them. I did put *your eldest grandchild* on the card. I was the one who made her a grandma for the first time, and she was always so proud of me 😭

Today my grandma has reached the impressive age of 95. Heartbreakingly, she hasn't really known who I am for the last few years, and I've stopped visiting because I hated that look of confusion on her face as she tried and failed to place me. Dementia is a cruel, cruel disease. Hug your family ❤️

Joe is no dunce at all - he's really sharp at noticing other people, and stays surprisingly quiet for such a dominant personality. I love him 😁
alrutter.bsky.social
I absolutely LOVED that first episode of #traitors. Top tier casting, absolutely hilarious moments, including Joe Marler staring at the horse and knowing he was there as the grunt, Claudia on point, and brilliant traitors chosen. This account is now only traitors and strictly until Christmas 🤣

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I feel like wedding dress shops should probably take a note of your wedding date for their marketing emails purposes, because honestly, I'm unlikely to be in the market for another, thanks.

I am once again working on cover copy, both my least favourite job and the part of my role I am very much worst at, and am descending to producing things like THIS:

"This book is weird and funny and can't really be described, so just take a punt on it. You'll probably like it."

Romance books for me - Emily Henry, Sarra Manning, Mhairi McFarlane. Or celebrate the life (and death) of Jilly Cooper by picking up one of her behemoths, which read swiftly and entertain thoroughly.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

Honestly, I cannot believe the bravery you've shown here. My own father is a racist and a bigot, and because I don't want to lose him completely, I'm forced into a situation where I feel like I cannot challenge his comments, and it makes me feel like a terrible coward and a fraud. You did good.
