Senator Angela Alsobrooks
@alsobrooks.senate.gov
United States Senator for Maryland.
Wishing my Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated a happy Founders Day!

Now more than ever our commitment to social activism is needed, and I’m so proud to be in this fight with Deltas on Capitol Hill who have worked so hard on behalf of the American people.

At a time when Americans can’t afford to put food on the table, pay their rent, or afford health care, it is so sad to see this President spend taxpayer dollars on meaningless vanity projects, like naming public buildings after himself.

Our legislation would stop it.
President Trump is rapidly moving this country toward authoritarianism.

Part of that is creating the myth of the “Great Leader” by naming public buildings after himself—something dictators have done.

Today I introduced a bill with @vanhollen.senate.gov & @alsobrooks.senate.gov to stop it.

Happy Birthday to my friend and the best senior senator in the country, Senator Chris Van Hollen!

Middle school is one of the most important times in our lives – a time to truly discover who you are.

I loved stopping by Woodlawn Middle School today. These students are preparing for lifetimes of success. I thank them for welcoming me!

I recommend that families don't listen to a single thing that comes out of RFK Jr.'s mouth.

Listen to your doctor. Get your vaccines.

Venezuela is about money. It's a total smash and grab.

As Americans get poorer, Trump stays focused on lining the pockets of billionaires.

I loved attending the 2026 Go-Go Awards, celebrating 50 years of Go-Go. I grew up on Go-Go music - part of the fabric of our DMV culture.

I was proud to celebrate the woman who constantly celebrates others, a champion of Go-Go, the Queen of Media, Ms. Cathy Hughes!

There's a lot going on right now. Team Maryland will continue fighting for you. Join us tonight for a Telephone Town Hall!
Tomorrow—don’t miss out!

Join us for a live Telephone Town Hall on Thursday, January 8 at 5:30 PM as we discuss health care, affordability, the Administration’s recent unlawful strikes in Venezuela, and other important issues in the new year.

Now this Administration is shooting unarmed mothers in their cars? Their cruelty knows no bounds. We need a full investigation immediately, and based on what I saw in the video — somebody must be brought to justice.

To summarize the legacy of accomplishments that my friend Congressman Steny Hoyer has achieved would require an entire novel — his impact on the people of Maryland’s fifth district — and people across this nation — over his storied career is as profound as it is enduring.

It's one of the WORST flu seasons on record, and what is our HHS Secretary doing?

GUTTING access to the flu vaccine.

How many children will have to die before RFK Jr. is fired? He is a danger to our children, our schools, and our nation. He must go.

I will always fight for our civil servants. The men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country - regardless of who is in the White House.

Republican shutdowns hurt Marylanders. Congresswoman Elfreth and I will keep working to protect our federal workers.
UPDATE: the @laborcaucus.house.gov has officially endorsed the Shutdown Student Loans for Feds Act that @alsobrooks.senate.gov and I introduced to help federal workers make ends meet during government shutdowns!

Happy New Year, Maryland!

After such a challenging year for our state, I pray this new year brings blessings, health, and joy for you and your families.

I will keep fighting for you to not just get by but to truly thrive.

Merry Christmas Maryland!

I pray that you can celebrate with your families and loved ones today.

Being your senator has been my greatest gift this year, and I thank you for your trust in me.

It should be a human right to have health care when you are sick – or when someone you love is sick.

Goddard Space Flight Center and its workforce of researchers and engineers are leaders in science.

But this Admin has ripped apart NASA – ceding ground to global competitors.

I will always fight for investments that keep America at the forefront of scientific discovery.

I filed legislation to repeal the unnecessary tax cuts on gun silencers and short-barreled rifles and use the money saved for Americans' health care.

It’s a 2-for-1 response to Republicans driving up health care costs and letting guns invade our communities. thehill.com/homenews/sen...

America deserves leaders who fight for their constituents – regardless of their faith.

The freedom to worship how we choose is a bedrock of this country.

Any comments for a mass expulsion of American Muslims are reprehensible and must be condemned. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
Some Republican lawmakers call for mass expulsion of American Muslims
Comments from Rep. Randy Fine (R-Florida) and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) reflect a brazen Islamophobic sentiment being voiced by some in the party.

Congratulations to Joseline Peña-Melnyk on her election as Maryland’s new Speaker of the House of Delegates.

I look forward to our work together as we strive to build a state where every Marylander can thrive.

I was honored to speak at the annual Minority Legislative Breakfast.

I'm working tirelessly to fight for minority businesses in Maryland – finding more opportunities to grow businesses, create more jobs, attract capital, get tax relief, and fuel our economy.

I had a fantastic time celebrating with the Annapolis Chapter of the Links, Incorporated at its Annual Winter Wonderland Gala.

We enjoyed an evening of fellowship, recognition, and charitable giving.

What a great way to ring in the holidays at the Baltimore Teachers Union Holiday Party!

Our teachers are the very best of us – working tirelessly to educate the future leaders of our great state. That’s why I will always fight for our teachers.
