Senator Angela Alsobrooks
@alsobrooks.senate.gov
United States Senator for Maryland.
This Thanksgiving, I am so grateful for the trust, support, and fight of Marylanders. I was honored to spend time today at Second Baptist Church Southwest alongside Hustle Mommies, Kevin Ford Jr., and Viola's House in giving back to our community.

I am so grateful to have spent time today with Food & Friends, helping to deliver meals to families with life-challenging illnesses.

In this season of gratitude, we must all practice giving back to our neighbors. When we lift each other up, our entire community will benefit.

I am a former prosecutor, and I spent over 13 years in a courtroom. It is time that the victims of Jeffrey Epstein get the justice they deserve. Release the Epstein Files NOW.

I was the first Senator to call on RFK Jr. to resign or be fired.

This is a man who has no background in science or medicine, and his dangerous actions and rhetoric will cause children to die.

I was honored to celebrate 10 amazing years of Black Girls Vote!

Every Black girl has a story. Thank you Black Girls Vote for telling those stories and inspiring future generations.

Proud to host another successful and informative Internet and Utilities Services Fair.

During these challenging times, my team and I are committed to making sure Marylanders get the support they need.

Look, this isn’t personal. I don’t know RFK Jr. But I do know he’s incompetent and entirely unfit to be leading our nation’s health.

RFK Jr. is dangerous for America. He must resign or be fired.

Let me tell you this: the girls of Girl Scout Troop 22107 came ready for our meeting today!

Full of ideas, excitement, confidence, and poise – I know these Girl Scouts are bound to do spectacular things, and I thank them for all they do for our community.

Marriage, divorce, adoption, and changing jobs are considered qualifying life events that trigger a special enrollment period for your health care.

Becoming pregnant is not considered a qualifying event.

The Healthy MOM Act - which I just introduced today - would change that.

It was such a joy to meet with Maryland high schoolers.

These students came from all across our great state to discuss critical legislation and how I can best represent them. I reminded them they are our future. Their voices matter.

How much did this vanity project cost taxpayers?

I introduced a bill that would require every dollar spent on this name change to come out of Secretary Hegseth's travel budget.

This Veterans Day, join me in honoring our veterans here in Maryland and across our great country.

Today, we take a moment to truly thank those who risked their lives in service to our country. Our freedoms and safety are only possible because of their service.

It was a joy to join State Senator Nick Charles, Special Secretary Yolanda Maria Martinez, and the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce for a Fireside Chat to discuss how I'm fighting for our small businesses.

I'm forever grateful for those who broke barriers so I can be where I am today. Speaker Pelosi is one of those people.

A fierce fighter for San Francisco and our nation-and ever a daughter of Baltimore-Speaker Pelosi showed us that we have power and a responsibility to use it.

The Trump Administration needs to follow the law and fund SNAP. Immediately.
Team Maryland is standing up for SNAP — it’s past time the U.S. Department of Agriculture and this Administration follow suit. Read the letter, led by @vanhollen.senate.gov, @alsobrooks.senate.gov and I, from the Maryland Delegation on my website.

This Republican shutdown is the longest government shutdown in our nation's history.

And Republicans would rather keep it shut down than ensure affordable health care.

It is so shameful.
November 5, 2025 at 3:05 PM
Republicans can fully fund SNAP, but are choosing to only fund it partially.

1 in 8 Americans rely on SNAP.

But Republicans care more about the 1 in 299,560 Americans that are billionaires.

Thank you Howard County for joining Rep. Elfreth, Attorney General Brown, Comptroller Lierman, and me for our town hall.

Marylanders are sick of this Administration’s cruelty and clear inability to govern. We will continue to fight back and stand strong for Maryland values.

Great to meet with Charles County leadership to hear more on their priorities on how they plan to continue moving the county forward.

I was proud to partner with local leaders and direct federal funding for SMRT and their CSM aviation program.

It’s a sad day when a judge has to order the President of the United States to feed vulnerable families and hungry children with funds already designated for that very purpose.
