I have a career with benefits, but when a family member needed intense and lengthy treatment, Medicaid meant I didn’t go bankrupt. Just one hospitalization was $24,000, and there were many of those.
Just in case anyone thinks Medicaid is a handout for lazy people. I kept working. We survived.
