Oh, hey, new followers! Nice to meet you all. I'm Amanda! I write books, most recently A RIVER WIDE, which doesn't have a release date yet but is forthcoming from @interstellarflight.bsky.social and "Viridian" in A SINISTER QUARTET, published by @mythicdelirium.bsky.social. #horrorwriter
And my emotional support blog is down. Alright. Okay.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 2876:
Don't write "a woman character", or "a gay character", or "a disabled character." Write a complete human being, with agency, and feelings, and flaws. No-one in fiction should be wholly defined by the groups they belong to.

Well this work thing is successfully novel-length, does that mean I can count it towards my novel-length drafts in my internal tracker?

I am mentally a ghost today and I am 100% not keeping up.

And lo, the edits are done, and once I get a couple of things pulled together the manuscript will be ready to send back and I will maybe have a publication date officially! It's happening!

Do you tell your boss that double spaces after a period are no longer required in copy, or do you just ignore it and get on with your life?

Tonight or tomorrow will be the end of these edits, I am certain. In the last couple of scenes now, then have to add some front/back matter stuff. It's very exciting!

Had an accidental legit staycation for like four days because the toddler is blowing snot everywhere and we decided not to give our germs to the extended family. It was glorious.

In related news, once these edits are done I have only 4,500 words left in the WIP to meet my wordcount goal for the draft/year and a delightful swordfight/battle with dragons to finish writing. I am so excited.

There comes a moment every time I am deep in an edit where I am certain I am going to somehow break the story. I have reached that point.

Finished the written portion of my edits (I always edit by hand) so now it's time to read back over everything as I type it up and see if it makes sense...so close! I can't wait for this story to see the light.

all the AI slop out there makes me want the most aggressively analog stories out there. like I want a one-of-a-kind homemade zine someone tucked into a baggie in the hollow of a tree, and I want that zine to include a shitty hand drawn map to a treasure it may or may not take 30 years to find
