What's changed is that the Court has become more transparent in its corruption. There's not even an argument here beyond the implicit one which is: how do you expect us to hold the House without those seats?
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

Yep, the Supreme Court really is just a House of Lords—a purely political branch with bizarre veto power, wielded capriciously and without accountability. Time for massive reform.

The Roberts Court will go down in history as having upheld the desires of Donald Trump and the GOP, rather than its commitment to justice, precedent or the rule of law.

Today’s ruling — which substitutes its own fact finding for that of the lower court — is yet another example.

In retrospect having an elite class composed of people who are really good at rising through the ranks by not rocking the boat left us in a really, really bad place at the moment that elite institutions faced their greatest moral test
One of my most conservative-coded opinions is that one of the reasons we're in this mess is because of the profound decadence, solipsism, moral rot, and general lack of personal virtue afflicting much of the upper PMC / bourgeoisie.

Tom Cotton, too, lies
Hegseth's "fog of war" claim is nonsense, if this account of what video shows is correct: The two men obviously were visible.

Tom Cotton's claims also in doubt: Rep Smith says drugs not visible. The decision that the men were still in the fight looks very shaky:

I really want Admiral Bradley and Pete Hegseth to explain how two men clinging to the wreckage of their boat, miles and miles away from the U.S., were a threat to us.
NEWS --> Tons of fresh detail on what video of the strike shows: Rep Adam Smith says two men are sitting on capsized boat, drugs aren't visible. Rationale officials gave for killing is they *may* have been able to keep trafficking.

"It's bad," Smith says.

Solidarity with Rep. Ilhan Omar and the Somali community in the face of this vile, racist garbage
The president’s obsession with the Somali community and me is really unhealthy and creepy. He is trying to deflect from his failures and sinking approval ratings. Sorry, Trump, we all see through your attempts to hide from your broken promises.

Speaking of House GOP conference, when a group is in danger they pull together. But at a certain point the Titanic isn't "in danger"; it's sinking. And at that moment, one person looks at another and says, "I never liked you, BITCH!" and throws a punch. This seems like where we are in the House.
