Happy Friday!

ICYMI, Spain approved a plan to grant legal status to thousands of migrants this week.

This smart, workable & humane initiative is a rare silver lining in today's toxic politics on migration.

Other EU member states should take note!
Valoramos positivamente que se haya aprobado hoy un Real Decreto que favorece la regularización de más de 500.000 personas migrantes. Esta medida facilita la inclusión e integración socio-laboral de personas que llevan tiempo en España en situación administrativa irregular.

Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in the illegally occupied Gaza Strip is continuing, including through the protracted obstruction of humanitarian aid, now further compounded by Israel’s new registration rules for international NGOs.🧵#FAC

Unfortunately, the EU's anti-racism strategy "is a product of the current political environment.

Diversity groups say the EU has weakened its newly-released policy to tackle discrimination. But was it due to fears of negative reactions from the Trump administration?

At what cost?

The EU border agency @frontex.bsky.social reports a 26% decrease in irregular border crossings last year.

These numbers say nothing about the human suffering behind the EU’s shift from asylum to deterrence🧵
📢 In 2025, the number of irregular border crossings to the EU dropped by 26% to 178 000, the lowest since 2021
📉 Western African route saw the biggest drop (-63%)
⚠️ Central Mediterranean was the busiest route, accounting for 37% of all arrivals
