Amnesty EU
@amnestyeu.bsky.social
We are @amnesty.org European Institutions Office! We advocate towards the EU & Council of Europe for human rights for all.
👉Ensure the UN Human Rights Council's Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan has the necessary resources & support to document, report & preserve evidence of crimes under international law
👉Exercise universal jurisdiction over crimes under international law committed in Sudan
(4/4)
December 3, 2025 at 3:39 PM
👉Protect & support people fleeing Sudan
👉Call all countries-including UAE-to respect the UN Security Council arms embargo on Darfur & refrain from transferring weapons & ammunition to Sudanese Armed Forces, RSF & others
👉Work to expand the UNSC arms embargo to all Sudan
(3/4)

What can the EU do?

👉Call all conflict parties to end all attacks on civilians & civilian infrastructure now, and ensure unrestricted & immediate humanitarian access
👉Increase emergency funding for humanitarian response in Sudan & refugee camps in neighbouring countries
(2/4)

No more preventable deaths, no more fear, no more punishment for those seeking or providing care.

We urge the @ec.europa.eu and the @europarl.europa.eu
to follow through on these demands.

Safe abortion saves lives. It is time for the EU to act.

The mechanism complements existing healthcare systems without undermining national sovereignty or the principle of subsidiarity.

▪️Participation would be entirely voluntary for Member States

▪️No country would be forced to change its national laws or policies

Last month, @amnesty.org launched a report documenting this reality. Growing restrictions and systemic barriers across Europe are putting pregnant people at risk.

Delays, refusals of care and criminalization continue to violate rights and endanger lives:

We support @myvoicemychoice.bsky.social, the 1.2 million signatories, and the activists, doctors, lawyers, and those directly affected.

Their voices highlight a harsh reality: when access to safe abortion is restricted, people are left without the healthcare, dignity, and equality they deserve.
December 2, 2025 at 5:28 PM
The message from today’s hearing was clear:
Abortion bans do not stop abortions; they only force people into unsafe and life-threatening situations.

A solidarity mechanism, as proposed by @myvoicemychoice.bsky.social, would be a vital step towards ensuring safe abortion care for all who need it.

The EU has long championed human rights in Cuba.
It's time for the EU to demand concrete protection measures & urge Cuba to:
👉End harassment, arbitrary detention & violence against women rights defenders
👉Urgently work toward a comprehensive law against gender-based violence
November 27, 2025 at 1:53 PM
“Women defenders are punished not only for speaking out, but also for being mothers, journalists & community leaders” says @anaamancay.bsky.social.

“The state wields gender-based violence as a tool of repression, seeking to break their dignity, their families & their collective strength"

At today's close of the EU-African Union summit, an important reminder that the EU & AU must act for human rights in conflicts like Sudan prioritizing:
👉Protection of civilians & rights defenders
👉Humanitarian aid & access
👉Accountability for violations

The EU must:
👉Demand RSF to end attacks on civilians
👉Demand UAE to disengage from supporting RSF
👉Fully resource the UN Human Rights Council Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan
👉Extend ICC referral & UNSC arms embargo to all Sudan
👉End sale/supply of arms to conflict parties

We welcome @europarl.europa.eu’s continued efforts, led by @tinekestrik.bsky.social, to protect the rights of the people in Hungary and the EU.

It is clear that protection of the rule of law and human rights in Hungary is essential to the protection of rights across the Union.
November 25, 2025 at 2:34 PM
The @ec.europa.eu must also strengthen action, including legal challenges and freezing all EU funds to the HU government.

Urgent action is needed by the Commission to stop the criminal investigation of the Pécs Pride organiser.

We call on the @consilium.europa.eu to:

▪️Advance to next steps in the Article 7 TEU procedure, following 7 years of hearings
▪️Use all tools available to defend the EU’s founding principles
November 25, 2025 at 2:34 PM
The @consilium.europa.eu’s prolonged inaction has contributed to this deterioration.

Given the continued worsening of the situation, it is now essential for the Council to move from discussion to concrete action.

The report highlights serious challenges, such as:

▪️Threats to judicial independence
▪️Escalating attacks on civil society
▪️Restrictions on media and academic freedom
▪️Violation of LGBTIQ+ rights

It shows that rule of law erosion has intensified, not slowed.
