When folks try to flaunt genAI they say "we're big into AI", usually trying to bring ML under that umbrella.
In the quotes from Vincke, there's more specific mention of ML tools rather than AI, as if trying to distance one from the other

When Neo finally gets his power to see the Matrix for what it truly is was actually a metaphor for getting a piece of this fucking ham loose without it ripping to pieces because of how it's folded.
I'm pretty sure that whenever Lovecraft's characters lose their minds beholding the mind-warping interdimensional folds of some eldritch being, he's actually referring to the way the Great Value Walmart ham is folded on itself.

This is an example of a logical fallacy called a false dichotomy. There are not "basically only two positions", with regards to pretty much anything. Approaching debate that way is reductive, dismissive and intellectually lazy. Also, the concept of barriers applied to opinions is fucking stupid.
There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI.
1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks.
2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.
Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.

I can already see someone firing their accounting department, "vibe working" a financial statement that is full of hallucinations and then being ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED when the IRS audits them and fines them hundreds of thousands of dollars.
