One of these days we’ll have to take a trip down this street.

at any rate, "load up on fighters and gently usher the cowerers into retirement" is the right mission for the time; any left-of-center policy proposals are, after all, simply going to crash on the shoals of the Supreme Court until that body is altered

This is intriguing but I still think that voters are, at the moment, assigning "progressive" and "moderate" to "willing to fight" and "prone to cowering" as opposed to making ideological or policy commitments. Would love to be wrong, but either way I'm pleased.

Aries: Today you will enact the lyrics of Mojo Nixon songs. Suggest you lock yourself in a closet before you get to Tie My Pecker To My Leg as it will prove to be unpleasant whether you have your own pecker or someone else's.

That crispy baked tofu from last night was so good, I had to consciously talk myself into the last serving of split pea soup for lunch today. Soup still tasted good & needed to be eaten, but crispy & fried-like it is not.

Bike repair guy said my chain was at 93% wear & usually they need replacement by 86%, so good thing I took it for a tuneup. My dream of while-you-wait didn’t work out tho - it won’t be ready before Friday. Also helmets are a bit more expensive than I recall, but it is my noggin, so.

I’m genuinely convinced that the myth of “tortitude” is absolutely rooted in sexism. The moment cat is visually IDable as female, people start ascribing “catty and shrill and unreasonable” attributes to her.

Well these are keepers. Yum.
I think dinner will be a: rainbowplantlife.com/baked-tofu/#... and b: rainbowplantlife.com/peanut-noodl... because we have all but one ingredient (red bell pepper). Well, make that two, but cornstarch will be a fine sub for potato or arrowroot starch.
Simple Baked Tofu
This Simple Baked Tofu recipe uses just 3 ingredients to deliver crispy golden yet pillowy tofu. Adds plant protein to nearly any meal!

Leopold: I don’t believe you about it not having any more cookies in it. I can smell them!
February 16, 2026 at 11:03 PM
If it’s 2pm and I can’t think about anything but dinner which won’t be for another 3 hours at least? Time for a piece of fruit. Maybe also some nuts. We’ll see after the orange.

And even if you had a pneumonia vaccine a while back, it’s worth asking for the latest one which apparently covers a wider range of the pneumonia family and it’s fine to layer them.
Oh man, get this if you're eligible. Pneumonia nearly took me out at age 8. I remember being in a hospital bed inside a plastic tent of oxygen, unable to talk and barely able to move.
TIL there's a pneumonia vaccine. ::flex::ow:: anyway that's pretty cool.

I figured I better double check on subbing cornstarch for potato starch. Apparently cornstarch is better for crispiness which is good for me bc that’s what I want from the baked tofu. I’m also realizing, I don’t think I’ve ever noticed any other kind of pure starch at the store. Potato, arrowroot.

I heard a noise; came to investigate. 🎶Someone🎶 was still trying to get into the lunch bag bc you never know. Might be another cookie in there. (There is not)
Leopold: a) I wasn’t doing anything and b) hmph.

I think I know how B’s lunch bag got buried under the window perch. It was partially unzipped & I’m sure Leopold was rooting in it to get to the two peanut butter cookies. Why am I sure? Bc I didn’t know they were there, did not rezip it & when I came back post shower, everything was on the floor. +

Ride went pretty well considering the bike _def_ needs dusting and a tune up and my helmet was crumbling in my hands. I rode w/o it - plz don’t yell at me - bc I’ll have the car tomorrow & will take the bike to a shop & get a new one then. There’s also a little problem with the chain. +
February 16, 2026 at 4:10 PM
Ha! B did _not_ leave his lunch bag at work. It got shoved under one of the cat perches probably by someone with four feet. Sweetie may really have wanted to go to work with him.

I just can’t face the elliptical. But it’s 59° so I’ll get my bike down, pump the tires & go for a ride.

Uh oh. Susan was asleep, but woke up & ran when I tried to pick her up for medicine. Now she’s making her highest pitched, single note mews which usually mean she’s feeling playful. I’m going to be chasing her around for hours.

B forgot his lunch bag at work on Friday so he got a grocery bag to put today’s lunch in for the ride in. It appears Sweetie wants to go to the shop with him :)

Oh yeah. I forgot fatphobic Wall-E is. Sigh.
February 16, 2026 at 12:01 AM
We’re watching Wall-E again, I think for the first time since we originally saw it. A while anyway. So far it holds up well.

I think the oxiclean did _something_. Deck and stairs especially are better. Just too many trees to not get tannin stains & mold/algae/mildew. Probably if I do this a few times a year, I can stay even or get slightly ahead.

Basically a giant bobbin, but for extension cords rather than yarn. Too small for the cord I bought it for, but that’s ok.
