Grr. That burner is still definitely running hot. Maybe not as much as before, but everything I’ve tried still cooks a lot faster; even when between 2 & 4 which should be barely heated.

Play Nice by Rachel Harrison is _great_. Demons in every way as well as the unreliability of memory and how insidious fear can be.

FFS. Just deleted the fourth or fifth fundraising text from Mark Kelly. Way to increase cynicism among democratic voters. “I know, I’ll make a deliberately provocative video about the President. When he bites, then I’ll rake in the cash.” Ugh. Stop.

Sigh. Leopold peed on the big comforter. I got it in the machine, barely. Fingers crossed it actually gets cleaned. Then I get to wash the other stuff that got peed on. 🙄 and Sweetie knocked the container of treats off the kitchen table that I’d only brought in bc I panned to grind more up later.

Def did not remember that there’s basically a full tennis match in Strangers on a Train.

Watching Strangers on a Train again for the first time in a long enough time that I don’t remember a lot of it. So far the scene of the tennis audience with Bruno in the middle is my favorite in this re-watch.

This is my friend Tanya’s cat Frankie. He’s made it through surgery, but she’s deep in debt for it. Tanya runs a volunteer cat rescue, but this is her baby. Any support you can offer would mean a lot. www.gofundme.com/f/help-save-...

I guess I’ll be finding somewhere else to sit for a while. I’ll never tire of the part in Susan’s belly fur.

Well at least the library did have Play Nice by Rachel Harrison as an ebook. (They also have Cackle, but audio only).

I don’t want to shut Sweetie away or have to wear an apron (I just hate them), so I will deep clean the kitchen counters, but w/vinegar & not bleach. It’ll be fine, if stinky for a bit.

Something like 1569 books added in the last 30 days that Libby lists as available now for West FL Public Libraries & easily 1500 are romances. I’m glad the romance fans have options. Wish there was a smidge more that gets anywhere near my taste.

Good grief the sheer quantity of cowboy, aristocracy (esp Dukes for some reason) & shifter romances is overwhelming. Yeesh. (Yep, trying to find something not matching the above description available now; I’m on p. 12 of 67 & there’s been 1)

I know it’s a satire, but the climatic scene in Fever Beach is at a polling place & all I can think (admittedly between snorts of laughter) is “ok, but there shd be a poll deputy & there would be a 150’ perimeter inside of which these yo-yos couldn’t go” (and which for story reasons 100% are inside)

A great way to spend a #caturday afternoon. (Even better would be if everyone got along well enough that the other two cats were here)

Also starting Say Nothing, a nonfiction book about a murder during The Troubles and I am very pleased to hear the narrator is Irish or extremely good at accents

I guess the good news is that now my right AirPod is the one that drained faster? Like, I don’t think it’s a hardware problem.

Yay! Leopold is back to just over 10 lbs. Whatever bug he had seems to have run its course. Alas, my attempt to increase food resources in hopes that this would maybe improve relations between Susan and Sweetie only resulted in Susan eating a bunch more while Sweetie & Padma maintained. +

Hm. Dunno. Burner still seems to be running hot. Not as much as before maybe. Have to cook some more stuff to be sure I guess.

This MAC knife is a mighty nice knife. Now to see how the new burner switch does. So far so good.

Seeking funding for my Hot Ones knockoff. It's exactly the same as Hot Ones, except for every question you eat a pizza roll that was microwaved for 5 seconds longer than the last.

This morning I saw two bald eagles ice fishing on the Kenilworth Lagoon at Lake of the Isles. You don’t see that every day.

Reading Fever Beach, the latest Carl Hiaasen book. One of the main characters is a barely differentiated Matt Gaetz and woo do I love Hiaasen in extra-mean mode. The _contempt_ leaping from the page is truly sustaining.

I had asked* for a single chef’s knife last year for Christmas. But my step-Mom likes to show love with volume. So she got that one (MAC MTH-80; I am extremely excited to try it tonight) _and_ 5 others.

*as in they asked me what I wanted & “I’m good; really I don’t need anything” didn’t work +

Not only do we do the intended stove fix, but tightened up the screw holding the handle onto the oven door (every time I opened it I’d think I should figure out how fix this loose handle when it’s cooled off and promptly forget) and maybe made the bottom drawer more usable.
November 28, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Woohoo! The left front burner that we use for 90% of the stovetop cooking is fixed! The aftermarket replacement wasn’t as well made as the original (B had to get rid of so errant plastic blocking a screw hole), but it’s all put back together!
