Real capitalists also know that the system functions on fiscal quarterly cycles. That means any activity in which value creation requires a longer timeline (ed, health, science, & incarceration) does not fit in a capitalist system. The costs of those activities should be distributed across society.

I had to remind my mechanic yesterday that his businesss is working on Toyotas and Nissans; tariffs hurt him. That I bought a Toyota not b/c it cost less than US cars, but b/c it was a higher quality product. Real capitalists don’t believe in protections; we believe in fair play & competition.

I can’t believe folks think the rest of the world won’t unite against us. We’re only a market of 360 million; we’re dwarfed by China, India, and Brazil, and Indonesia just to name a few. We’re not indispensable. We will be cut out of future trade deals. We will be poorer.

I’ve recently discovered @kanopyofficial.bsky.social - streaming through the LA public library ❤️❤️❤️. There’s a palpable diff b/w being tracked for purely private gain & being tracked where the library benefits a bit. I don’t mind SOME tracking, but I object to be wholly consumed as a data source 🙄
