Dear all!
I'm thinking about taking some time off from this. Got a new story to write and lots of pre-holidays stuff to attend to. So, if I'm quiet, that's why.

Meanwhile, many of my books will be part of Smashwords End of Year Sale. You find all links here:

Reading the #NovemberWorldbuilders skeets, I wonder who on Earth ever thought that having such a low character limit per post here on Bluesky was ever a good idea 🤪

The Impact, the Days of Chaos are recent. But I haven't yet talked about the technology that enabled people to witness someone else's dreams. First, it was used in trauma therapy, then entertainment industry seized it, and then it got out of control.

Heya, #NovemberWorldbuilders! It's the last day of our HISTORY week. Tell me something about the more recent history of your world. What's something important that happened in the last 20 years or so from when your story takes place? Perhaps something that sets off the inciting incident

The Impact is still the most legendary event if this past. Official version is that the fragments of a meteor hit Earth after a failed attempt to change its course.
The truth, however...

Titles?

Usually, a title evolves while I'm writing the story. Sometimes, I also brainstorm with friends, tossing ideas.

In the case of #ChasingWildDreams I wanted to call it Dream Chasers or Wild Dream Chasers first, but that title was taken. So, it became this instead.

Oh, there are so many lies- starting with the Impact and continuing with the wild dreams...

But Cyn and Lys are about to find out [spoiler]

The councils came down hard in the gang bosses, breaking up the gangs. Ninth and Tenth quarter are by now totally deserted. The councils so won that war.

I listen to music while I dream up the next scene. Once I start writing, though, I need quiet. Especially if the songs are in a language I speak.

The Impact changed Cyn's life forever. He was still a little kid, but his dad vanished during the Days of Chaos, and his family lost almost everything. His mom tried to keep them fed which killed her in the end.
Cyn would have never ended on the street

#ChasingWildDreams
#NovemberWorldbuilders Let's talk about how the world's history directly impacts your main character (or some other important character in the world you're developing). Do they have an important ancestor? Was there a specific event, say a war or diaspora, that impacted their current life?

Dealing w/ imposter syndrome?

Yeah... I've no super advice here. I write for fun first and foremost, but ever since sharing my work with others, I've faced the occasional bout of "what am I doing here?"
Positive feedback helps. Concentrating on the story does, too.

The gang bosses made a huge impact during the Days of Chaos. They stepped into the vacuum of lost leaders after the Impact and mostly terrorized the people. If you weren't in a gang, you were either rich, lost, or very clever.

We're talking about our fictional world's history this week, #NovemberWorldbuilders. Tell me about a ruler or leader who made an impact in your world. How are they remembered by those living in the future?

#NovemberWorldbuilders 22 The world as we know it was lost when the Impact happened and the technology for dreams got out of control.

Lys and Cyn do find hints buried in the rubble of Ninth Quarter...

It's our next week, #NovemberWorldbuilders! The theme this week is HISTORY in your fictional worlds. To start off with: does your world have any ancient (perhaps long-lost) civilizations? Did they leave ruins behind? Does anyone know what happened to them?
November 22, 2025 at 2:10 PM
#NovemberWorldbuilders 21

There are none in #ChasingWildDreams. I guess people are still too busy with surviving to celebrate.

Poor sods. I should have been nicer. 🤔
Howdy, #NovemberWorldbuilders. What special events take place near the river/lake in your fictional world? Do they have any festivals or annual traditions? How do your characters engage with these events?

(it's come to my attention that it isn't Friday yet, ahem. Wishful thinking...)

I find inspiration everywhere. Dreams, songs, books, people, random thoughts - every thing can be a source of inspiration.

The unnamed city in which the story takes place is right next to the river. It's divided into quarters, with first being the innermost & richest quarter. The further out, the poorer and less kept. Ninth & tenth on the outskirts are openly rotting.

#ChasingWildDreams
Good day, #NovemberWorldbuilders! What settlements exist along the river or lake in your fictional world? Are they small? Big? A series of small villages or maybe one grandiose castle that dominates the area? Who lives and works around the water?
