In her journal, Octavia E. Butler wrote, "My pen and my paper, they comfort me—at least a little. They allow me to scream into utter silence. They focus my thoughts, they permit me to act when no other action is possible.” Keep writing.

Proud to be a part of this organizing effort, especially in light of another collapsing ceasefire. We don’t want war criminals vacationing on our beaches and enjoying our country.

Two of liberation 9/21’s members were on one of the national morning shows this morning discussing our petition to revoke the visa waiver for Israeli passport holders.

The National Guard’s mostly quiet walks through Washington, D.C., are expected to cost a little more than $200 million, USA Today reported, and that’s the figure just for the D.C. National Guard, not for the eight states that have sent troops.
A Very, Very Expensive Way to Reduce Crime
The Trump administration’s National Guard deployments are highly inefficient.

That’s due to capitalist extractive economies, not people. The majority of death for non human life has happened due to the will of a few and the complicity of the rest of us but that doesn’t mean humanity is an inherently consumptive pox on the world.

Also going to 50 without a renumbering is a great sign! I’m glad there’s so much confidence in the ability to hop on mid story. This is old school serialized storytelling. Great arcs and character journeys that also stand alone. Small miracle I keep rooting on.

Beyond conservation, this story gave me a chance to talk to people from all over the world to discuss ocean governance and national debt reduction, including folks in Australia, Turkey, Barbados, the UK and Kenya.

Story also led me to one of my professional goals: commissioning a map. As a person with no GIS knowledge but with a deep appreciation of that skillset, this was a major bucket list achievement for me. 😊

In that flow state today of writing thousands of words after months of research.

Glad to cap the year with a report that I hope will clarify for readers the reality of meeting global 30 x 30 conservation goals in light of ongoing coral bleaching, a climate tipping point concerning many.

The Gaza holocaust will be a litmus test for high-profile figures for decades. Everyone's comments or lack thereof on Israel's genocidal atrocities will be looked up and amplified whenever their name rises to public attention.

This breakfast tart after gardening was the best way to start a relaxing Sunday. Such a delightful dish I was able to whip up from what we had. 🙂

Reds is on Hoopla. Looking forward to my first watch in commemoration of Keaton’s death. Style icon, confidence personified, and played a writer with the writing life I most envy. lol

So cool! I was just looking at your first collab and thinking damn that was a good one.

A report is out today that a hearse with a body was stuck in highway traffic, late to a funeral. Imagine being the person late to your own funeral. At least you wouldn’t be able to die of embarrassment.

The recent preview was so good. I shared it with my organizing group and it really touched several folks. We are in Belize trying to do our part and figuring out a lot together since starting over the summer.

One of my most anticipated books of this year! We need guidance and true rest and clarity based in shared reality and collectivism.

I believe this book will be crucial to our organizing not only enduring, but becoming more desirable for those now activating under rising global authoritarianism.

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

"Why aren't the Free Palestine people cheering about the ceasefire?"

If you saw a man beating a child into a coma, would you cheer after the beating stopped? No, your first reaction would be horror at what happened and your second would be fear that he'll attack the kid again.

My partner advocated for a friend who got a new medical diagnosis that isn’t fatal as per her previous one given by other doctors. Unbelievably proud. She changed her friend’s whole life today. 🥹

Reviewing interview notes where a marine park ranger told me manatee have 3 different flavors depending on the part you eat.

🐟 part. 🐖 part 🐄 part

I have yet to verify if this is true. I don’t wanna believe manatee are that delicious.

Since it's Black Speculative Fiction Month, I thought I'd share a story I love by a Black author each day. Since I'm starting 10 days in, I'll post a bunch to catch up. I'm going to do 15 from the Top 80 of Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy and 15 from Lightspeed/Nightmare.

Gratitude for my partner’s rheumatologist, one of the only white American men we agree is a good one.

Lack of medical racism?✅
Believes patient account? ✅.
Willing to write paperwork to assist with immigration?✅.

Sad that he’s elderly and has told us fewer doctors interested in his speciality.

It is very nice to have a partner that you deeply admire for their integrity, compassion, and bravery. I look at their photo sometimes when we’re apart with disbelief and gratitude that we come home to each other.

Power to you for actions! From Belize to Toronto to Gaza, we will see justice for oppressed people! I hope your comrade returns to you soon and well.
