People will start taking this shit seriously when public servants are subject to the same scrutiny as those seeking citizenship. When debates become competitions over who knows the Constitution and laws of their districts, those answers will matter. Governance should not go to the top salesperson.

Layoffs subscribe to the Gospel of the Free Market. Setting workers free to maximize capacity and revenue is the "hard sacrifice" that the rich make toward their corporate prosperity so they can afford to procure more temporary labor later.

#starfleetacademy started out this week as "Dork Calling Orson" but took off from there to give us the best hour of Trek I've watched in a LONG time. SO good to DS9 and SO great to this amazing new character, SAM. Two in a row with great characters to distract from the vanilla, boring leads.

Being a moderate in American politics right now is like being that well-meaning soul who wants to get between two warring gangs out for blood and armed for war. When they die, both warring sides will claim they were either collateral damage or chose to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
