Policy & investment needs to focus creating the conditions for people to move more (whatever the activity; it really can be *anything*!) in their lives to realise this wide-ranging benefit.

This demands recognising spatial variation, encouraging plurality, and measuring system maturity.

Worth remembering that freezing fuel duty, which could well happen again, costs about 30x more than the cycle to work scheme per year.

Net zero is one of the many areas where commentators are out-of-touch with public opinion in Britain. There is still broad support for cutting carbon emissions - except from among Reform supporters, who are the outliers.
🧵/ How far does the public support net zero?

Oppose: 25%

Net support by party

A fascinating report this, interesting that one of the reasons young people spend so much time online is the lack of alternatives.

The report says there's a need to fund spaces for young people to meet. There's a yearning to do more in person.

Ideally, for me, physical activity and sport spaces.
'Andrew Tate is Dead.' Our report out today - Inside the Mind of a 16-year-old - gets underneath the moral panic and finds out what young people really think. @rachelsylvester.bsky.social @alastaircampbell2.bsky.social @itvpeston.bsky.social @jonathanfreedland.bsky.social
