This week's next piece is, dare I say, the most complete exploration of hybrid mana in cube design ever written.

Researching this piece surprised me... I would have never guessed Red's first all-upside 2/2 at 2MV, and I bet you won't either.

The Risks Of Hybrid Mana — Lucky Paper
Hybrid mana is a frequent design tool for Wizards and for the Cube designers who follow in their footsteps. But hybrid cards exhibit some predictably risky tendencies in Cube. Read on to find out why,...

TWO new #mtgcube articles this week? You better believe it.

First up, my thoughts on ATLAxMTG. ATLA was my favorite TV show as a teen. The set may be a good product, but if so, that's in spite of Magic's game engine, not because of it:

The Game Design Pitfalls of Crossovers — Lucky Paper
We're living in an age where Magic embraces crossovers. The effects that crossovers have on the quality of the game design itself have largely flown under the radar -- until now.

My channel is way smaller than you but the video I dropped today also did orders of magnitude worse than recent videos

$ per unit sold is a very clean way to describe it if it’s constant regardless of how many are sold.
November 13, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Another way you could run it is split the profits after some flat rate for your time, and you could skew that however you want. Bigger up front fee for you for a smaller share of profits, etc.
November 13, 2025 at 5:45 PM
Note that I am not saying 50/50 is the right or equitable split, just that profit is what I actually care about, why make me do gross calculations to see if I’m getting a fair shake of the profits?
November 13, 2025 at 5:43 PM
I think gross is more confusing. I’m having a hard time grokking the difference and I would feel like maybe I didn’t understand wholly and might be being taken advantage of. 50/50 profit split is very clear and very clearly “fair”

Yeah maybe you're catching strays from my seeing a ton of shared yard projects where it doesn't make sense, does seem pretty deep here.
November 10, 2025 at 9:56 PM
Ascension specifically does add depth to it here, and only time will tell, but I feel like whoever draws the ascensions would be pretty favored? idk I just see tons of people doing shared graveyard stuff, presumably because Dan Dan does, when it's adding very little.
November 10, 2025 at 9:31 PM
Would play the hell outta this, though I think the shared gy trend is silly, fwiw.

I'm really happy with this episode! I think it's a great balance of theory and practice and @lordsoflimited.bsky.social and @mistermetronome.bsky.social are such excellent guests.
