If you shop in a national chain, likely profits end up squirreled away overseas. Local shop, likely profits go into something like their child's dancing on lessons (staying in the local economy).

A few months ago in Lidl I had a bag of shopping in one hand, and a multi pack of water in the other. I ended up holding my receipt in my teeth to present to the exit gate. I must have looked a right tool.

But that it literally their system. Although few follow it. If you are using a trolley you bung the stuff in that and then sort it out. There is a special shelf for doing that - it is called the packing shelf.

In 1964 Silent Spring was the inspiration for a Doctor Who story called Planet of Giants. One of the two plots was a callous industrialist resorting to murder to protect a deadly insecticide that destroys all insect life. The other plot was the regulars being made really tiny.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

I suppose the election pledge to slash public spending was made because:

1. A fundamental lack of awareness how much councils have had budgets slashed, something that is so well known in the public domain that this must be considered as incompetence.

2. They were lying.
