Penn State will pay James Franklin nearly $50 million not to work. Meanwhile, the university shut down WPSU, which had an annual operating cost of $7 million, half of which was paid by the university.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out what the hell the Senate Democrats are doing in Maine — the most important Senate race in the country. Their decision to back Janet Mills suggests they have learned no lessons from our loss in 2024.

Are Democrats About to Blow It in Maine?
By backing Janet Mills over a grassroots outsider, party leaders may be repeating the same mistakes from 2024

BREAKING: We’re suing the Trump administration on behalf of four D.C. residents for its practice of illegal arrests of immigrants in the District. Since August, federal agents in D.C. have arrested hundreds of immigrants with no warrants and no legal justification. 1/ 🧵
A white background with a photo of protestors with low transparency set against it, and D.C. flag imagery at the top. The text of the image reads: "Police have abused their power. Using militarized tactics on local residents, racially profiling immigrants and Latinos at work, schooll, and church, and ripping communities apart." At the bottom of the image are the organizational logos for the ACLU of D.C., National Immigration Project, CASA, Washington Lawyers' Committee For Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, and Amica Center For Immigrant Rights.

This is what a governor should be saying to unequivocally oppose the deployment of National Guard troops in their state. This is no time to be mealy mouthed.

Yes, it's true. Someone did take your job. And your healthcare, pension, wage hikes and life off a single income.
It just wasn't immigrants, welfare recipients, queer people or women having abortions.
If you want to know who took your money, it's the people with all the money.

National Guard soldiers called into service for President Trump's law enforcement surge in D.C. have been assigned to spread mulch at federal monuments.

Normally the Park Service does that, but the administration laid off the workers.

A lot of Elite Dems need to get familiar with the playbook for toppling an authoritarian. Mockery is one of the tactics. Tim Walz was onto it by calling them weird, until Beltway strategists talked him out of it.

Why Everyone Should Stop Freaking Out About Gavin Newsom's Social Media
If his goal was to get people talking, Gavin Newsom has succeeded with his new pugnacious, Trump-like approach to social media.

"Dems can turn things around by holding up people who are working hard on this issue & succeeding. Brandon Scott talking about how he actually brought down crime in Baltimore is more effective than the blathering of 'strategists' whose answer to everything is that Dems should act like Republicans."
Don't listen to centrist Democrats about crime
They're wrong on the policy and wrong on the politics.

Democrats can overcome "soft-on-crime" attacks—not by tacking to the right or dodging the issue altogether—but by proudly owning safety and justice by focusing on what is working in places like Baltimore, Chicago, and Detroit to make communities safer.

I received texts today from a former Navy pilot and a former prosecutor running for Congress as Democrats. They just can’t quit this candidate profile, can they? 😑

We were at the same town hall
mauraquint.bsky.social
At a town hall in PA-10 and I’ve never heard people so angry. Our Rep is the worm Scott Perry who deserves a dump truck of shit on him. But the people here are also furious that the Dem currently running against him is Janelle Stelson — seen as a worthless pawn of the rich.
andyhoover.bsky.social
From Janelle Stelson’s website. Can’t even muster a throwaway line like, “We’re a nation of immigrants.” If this is how Ds are going to run in 2026, we’re screwed
andyhoover.bsky.social
Another audience member during the open mic said, The status quo is not working. We need something new.

Heard at a town hall tonight in Harrisburg: Democrats, “stop this moderate nonsense.” The crowd is also clearly not happy with the party getting behind Janelle Stelson in PA-10

Elite Democrats like Josh Shapiro and Hakeem Jefferies just won’t quit the failed pro-corporate, pro-war strategy that has taken the Democratic party to its lowest approval rating in three decades. Unbelievable

One PA West Southwest Rising had a press conference to celebrate our victories in getting repairs to 12 vacant homes. What’s next:
1) repair 5 more abandoned homes
2) create a program to make repairs to unsafe buildings
3) create policies so vacant property can = affordable housing & green space.

I ran into a Migrant Justice protest two days ago outside the post office (Burlington’s post office shares the federal building with the courthouse) and last night was at a sporting event where the crowd cheered resisting ICE. I don’t think ICE and Trump are prepared for how unpopular they now are.

drove 5 min from where I live where some state lawmakers and local religious leaders were having an emergency press conference. Right in my neighborhood because, get this, some people find it uncouth that the trump admin would want to disappear the Muslim chaplain of cincinnati Children’s hospital
