it sucks feeling like my home, Chicago, the greatest city of all time, has been besieged by a horde of racist uncles for years and now they are finally breaching the city walls and when they get here they'll be like "oh it wasnt that bad BUT WE FIXED IT FOR YOU and also the irish were slaves, too"

maybe it's because I come from a small town in a conservative state but I think if you kidnap someone's kids in the hope you can also kidnap the parents (people working to provide for their families) then you've forfeited your soul, you shall never know heaven, and your crimes will follow you always

yes I am comparing myself to springsteen because in addition to the love/hate of my work, I, too, write stories about men wanting to escape their small towns while also filled with misery over their sins and a deep hope for redemption
andymboyle.bsky.social
reading a book about the making of "born to run" and the entire time springsteen is like "this fucking sucks and I want to die" and also "this is the greatest music ever made" every two minutes and goddamn does that make me feel a lot better about the art I make

Hey, I'm trying to learn more about toxicity on Bluesky. How often do you see toxicity on here? Where in the app do you see it?
