Every nominee for best Regional Roots Music Album is New Orleans (or Louisiana) related.

Definitely going to give these a spin. #Grammys

Would love to see Shakti win for best global music album, or Caetano Veloso tbh, nice to see live releases nominated.

Reviewing best song for visual media Grammy nominees and mostly bangers here. That Sinners soundtrack is great.

This cold spell sure is getting old. 3+ weeks and counting since it’s been above freezing in Chicago.

Never thought I’d see a Phish cover band while they’re very much alive and touring, but Reprise at Garcia’s last night was the exception.

A well-executed recitation of the Thanksgiving Harpua narration inspired “I was there” flashbacks. 11/25/94 phish.net/charts/narration/?uniqueid=81057

Minnesota based Independent Journalist GEORGIA FORT has been arrested for filming a protest of the church pastor that works as an ICE manager. SPREAD THE WORD! Georgia has been doing outstanding reporting from ground zero!

Embrace small victories and parlay them into progress. It’s going to take a series of compromises to shift Congress’ collective consciousness. Here’s hoping for some mostly positive momentum this week.
Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

At this rate, CBS News will just be the name of an echoey Twitter list. And to think, they could’ve done something with news[dot]com way back when.
The Bari Weiss plan is for CBS News to employ fewer reporters charged with finding things out and more (right-skewing) commentators charged with telling them what to think. Same playbook Wash Post is using. www.npr.org/2026/01/27/n...
After rocky start, Bari Weiss to cut staff, add commentators at CBS News
CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss came in with a mandate to reshape coverage. She is set to announce plans for newsroom cuts and the hiring of many new commentators.

Ever since around 1999, it’s been a dream and goal of mine to work and live in another country, for at least a year.

Are you living that dream (or someone you know, or a book you’ve read)? I want stories.

I’m still hopeful, and know it will likely be on my own initiative and at my own expense.

We owe it to videos taken by brave Minnesotan eyewitnesses for exposing the lies of Kristi Noem, Greg Bovino, Kash Patel, Stephen Miller & Karoline Leavitt.

While these often anonymous bystanders have the right to record, they do so at great risk; Pretti was initially targeted for recording ICE.
How bystander video and newsroom analysis undercut the White House narrative on Alex Pretti - Poynter
The administration tried to shape the story, but evidence and detailed analysis appear to have forced a rare recalibration

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Every comparison to how ICE and CBP are terrorizing the public is historically infamous. That is BAD bad, and this is real and must stop.
Homeland Security doesn’t like it when we call ICE and Border Patrol “the Gestapo.”
So let’s set the Gestapo aside. Instead I’ll use this thread to compare Trump’s thugs to other secret police and terror squads from different times and places. It’s tyranny, no matter where it comes from. 1/10🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

4/ The NYT has now changed it's lead story headline back to one with an emphasis on the DHS lies. Good grief.

Now: Minnesota authorities investigate fatal shooting as federal officials blame victim

Earlier: Man killed by federal agents in Minneapolis was holding a phone, not a gun

The Timberwolves-Warriors game in Minneapolis has been postponed by the NBA, sources tell ESPN, in wake of a man shot and killed Saturday in a confrontation with federal agents in the city. It's the second shooting there in a week, third this month, involving a federal officer.

This is a living nightmare. A confluence of the worst influences in American culture, embodied by these ICE animals, unleashed like mentos into a Diet Coke.
I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity
