many things contributed to the perception that fighting games were impenetrable (a perception i fell into) for all those years, and part of it was "nobody fucking documented anything, they just knew it and would tell you if you asked, but nobody had thought to invent the Dustloop Wiki yet."

among the craziest opinions yahtzee has stuck to over the years is "metal gear is cringe and the tonal shifts are bad, the game should be more serious." that was a normal opinion in like 2009 but he's the only person left on earth who hasn't budged on it since then.

man this series is so lopsided, there's so much potential and sometimes it's reached but the rushed productions just completely crippled it. maybe they should do a new entry with a clean slate, one that sort of... reboots the franchise perhaps NOOOOOOO NOT LIKE THAT
