🚨TAKE ACTION🚨

In the dead of night, Ron DeSantis ordered part of the Pulse memorial painted over. That’s why we’re calling on everyone in Orlando to show up for a peaceful gathering today at the Pulse Memorial at 6:00pm ET.

NEW: Florida has filed its response, saying all people held at the Everglades detention camp are being held under a 287(g) agreement with ICE — but the documents they filed in court DO NOT include any such agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency Management, which is operating the facility.

The federal government and the state of Florida failed to produce legal agreements giving them authority to detain immigrants at Alligator Alcatraz, which continues to operate as an extrajudicial black site. Today is the deadline set in federal court for agreements to be shown.

A top aide to Ron DeSantis just admitted that the administration is breaking the law by hiding contracts connected to “Alligator Alcatraz,” the immigration detention facility it built in the middle of the Florida Everglades.

What terrible news. It's exactly what I was talking about in this thread I posted last week on mosquitoes in concentration camp history and the likelihood of that history repeating in the Everglades today. bsky.app/profile/andr...

This is really disturbing. A person detained in the Everglades was handcuffed and left outdoors in the sun as punishment for attempting to go on a hunger strike. As mosquitoes swarmed him, he pleaded with guards to bring him inside and was kept outside for nearly three hours.

We’re not slowing down at #TeamAnna! We didn’t have a publicly facing canvass this weekend but we’re still knocking on doors this morning and earlier this week we hosted a virtual phone bank to help renew vote-by-mail ballots!

Here are ways you can join us in action ⬇️

The hourly rates paid for by taxpayers to staff the Everglades detention camp are more than what we pay teachers in Florida. Just horrible priorities as usual from our state government.

If you’re wondering how much public money the state is spending to staff this immigrant detention center in the middle of the Everglades, look no further as we have the contract for CRS (Critical Response Strategy). They are the ones “managing” the facility.

Not sus at all. 😒 I’m grateful for @annaforflorida.bsky.social’s diligence regarding this. She hasn’t let up. Kinda feeling proud of some of our dem state reps fighting this hard.

Update on this — contracts were posted back online this morning…. But only their cover sheets! Which is basically nothing!

Is Florida Quietly Removing Alligator Alcatraz Contracts from Public Database?

On Tuesday, Orlando Rep. Anna Eskamani (@annaforflorida.bsky.social) accessed the documents on the state's FACTS website. The next day, they were gone.

Nothing to see here folks — just $11,000,000 being spent of YOUR taxpayer money to build a NEW ROAD in the middle of the EVERGLADES for this detention center currently caging hundreds of immigrants with NO criminal charge.

I refuse to normalize this dangerous grift.

We were scheduled to be there but had to head to South Florida to conduct whatever oversight we could at the Everglades Immigrant Detention Center and it means the world to me that even in our absence y’all held it down.
